Took Amtrak from NYC to Orlando June 18 to June 29th. Surprise trip for the kids. Arrived at Orlando Station was met with a driver for Amtrak Shuttle service. Drove us to ourresort, Old Key West for $40 plus a generous tip because he was a terrific conversationalist. Excellent trip except for the rain from T.S. Debby. Time to go home called the van driver who was prompt and courteous. Amtrak slowed by Mid-Atlantic storms. Ehhh, what can you do?

I'm glad you had a good trip. I took Amtrak to Disney from NYC back in 2002 for our senior class trip, it was horrible. I have since swore I'd never do it again. It could've had something to do with the 50+ 17-18 year olds stuck in a train car for 24 hrs, but besides wasting a whole day on a train, the price wont save you much. I just don't have the patience for it. However, Disney might make some money by charging for transportation from here.

I didn't even know this was an option. Guess it's good if you have a fear of flying. It can't be cheap though. I bought Amtrack tickets this week going from NYC to Old Saybrook Ct and it was $76 going there and $44 coming back. Huge ripoff. I won't use Amtrack unless I have to.
