We just got back from an amazing Disne/Universal Vactaion! All of the pre planning totally paid off. DH, DD7, and I had so much fun! We stayed at the POFQ and LOVED it! It was so quiet and peaceful. We loved the river view room we had. we also loved the pool, the Cajun Campfire, and the movie on the lawn.

We were at rope drop every day and see why it is so recomemended! Between that and FP+, we were able to get so much done, even though it ended up raining almost every day we were there.

We all got to talk to Crush and our DD7 got to be Mrs. Potts in ETWB. We also were able to get a FP for BOG. We really enjoyed the food there. And we ate one night at the T-Rex Cafe. We really enjoyed the food and theming there as well, and we got to sit right under one of the Dinosaurs!

Thanks so much for all of the helpful tips and advice tha helped us to have a truly magical vacation! There are many things we wouldn't have known if we hadn't been on this forum and a few others. This was our second trip, (our first trip was 2,011) and both trips were made even more magical by the info received here!

I'm so glad you had a good time! That's what Walt intended. Mission accomplished!

Yeah, you can't beat this place for good info about...well, anything Disney. I'm in awe of the technical know-how some folks here have about the parks and how they function. And trip reports are the BEST. (I wish someone would write a review of the new Universal hotel. A real review - not Jimmy Thick's load of fertilizer. :p)

Thanks! We were a little worried about all the rain and thunder storms predicted, but getting there at rope drop every day and using FP+ really helped. We were actually able to do more than we thought. We didn't get to do Tom Sawyer Island or Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground which DD really wanted to do, but we were able to do some other play areas at the other parks so it worked out pretty well. :)

Rope drop made a big difference, especially at RNR, and TT. We were able to almost walk right to the design area for TT, or the Aerosmith part of RNR, the first time for both of those rides, then rode again with about a 27 or so minute wait. At AK they let us in a little early and by the time we got off EE for the second time, it was still only 9:11. That was on a day when official opening was supposed to be at 9:00.

Glad you had a good time! We were there the same time as you, at POR! We walked over to POFQ a few times, we love it there. Wasn't the rain so annoying? I'm not used to "all day" rains in Florida like that. I totally agree about rope drop, it made a difference for us as well. And the FP+. We threw on ponchos & rain coats, and made the best of the weather! :)

What dates were you there? We were there from the 28th of April to the 5th of May, but the 3rd and 4th we were at Uni. We didn't walk over to POR but we had a couple of busses that made stops there. Yes the Rain was annoying, and we're originally from the west coast where it rains a lot! We actually picked this time period partly because we thought there would be less rain than when we were there in August 2,011, and ended up with much more rain lol. But as mentioned earlier, between RD, and FP+ and the lower crowd level we were able to get a lot done! even more than planned, so that was cool. We used umbrellas because we didn't want to wear ponchos. :)

We also took a night to go to the DTD theater and see The Amazing Spiderman 2 in 3D. Then we took the boats back to the hotel, very nice!

We were there April 29th-May 7th. The 4th-6th were nice, but wow the rain the days before that seemed like it never ended. We go in early May every year, and in the last 5 years, we've only had one other rainy trip. So you're right, it's usually a good time to visit weather wise! We had an umbrella too - DH didn't want to wear a poncho. I threw in DD's rain jacket at the last second, and we definitely got a lot of use out of that thing! ;)

Crowd levels were great. Less than they were the last 2 years at this same time I thought. Same here with getting more done than we planned. We liked the ferry boats too! We went over to DTD a few times to eat & shop. Love the Port Orleans resorts!

Yeah, we definitely loved the POFQ. Our first trip in 2,011 we stayed at POP. It was nice but we wanted to try a moderate this time. We were so glad we did. It was so nice and quiet. We had a beautiful view of the river, etc. We also really enjoyed the pool and Cajun Campfire.
