Am I the only one who thinks "Dinosaur" is too loud?

I absolutely love the ride itself. It really is exciting and has a great atmosphere! You really feel outside and among the jungle and the dinosaurs are truly exciting!

However, i find myself shying away from this ride because towards the end of the ride I literally can't handle the noise. It's too loud. I know enough to know the noise level is what makes it more realistic and intense but It's so loud that my wife now won't ride it and I myself find myself squinting if not plugging my ears as we're barrelling through the end of the ride.

I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

Ya it is pretty loud. That is the only ride that still freaks me out. Don't know why I guess the sound might have something to do with it.

Since its the Carnatours last effort to get you. At this point he's "ticked off" (If there is such a thing for him). Not to mention, he's super close to you when he lunges at you and you drop into that ravine. Which is why they set it up like that. The speakers are inside the tunnel, which, as you know isnt that big so the sound really has no where to go, plus with no pads to reduce the noise....

I think it is needed to add to the scare factor, just like AE did.

I'm used to it by now. That and going to too many concerts over my lifetime :-)

understood

I completely understand Disney's reasoning for it. Heck I'd do the same thing if I were them, but does it not hurt you guys ears when going through there? I mean it's too loud for me.

Yeah, it kinda hurts my ears too... But I guess it's just part of that major scare factor. All of your senses are on edge during the ride so when you're being jostled around, dinosaurs popping out at you and loud sounds ringing in your ears... you're sure to be a little edgey

You are not alone! I have pretty sensitive ears, so this ride KILLS me! My family always laughs because in every single picture for the ride, I'm plugging my ears. I only seem to ride this ride once a trip. Or not at all. It causes too much of a headache for me.

I love the CTX sound system. It was incredible just after opening when the audio throughout the attraction was at a higher level. Each dino attack was similar to the ending levels. :D
Disney audio systems really are second to none.

Steve,

Do you really think we expected you to say differently? J/k

I actually love the attraction, I think I just have slightly sensitive ears (even though I am obsessed with fireworks shows).

It just makes me hurt when I ride through it. I feel it's just too loud for my sweet little ears, lol.

I kind of agree. But maybe you didnt know they HAD to lower the volume. My mother was one of many who complained. Now its lower.. But thworst loudest sound on the ride is when those branches break. It hurts my ears.

I remember that was one of the things that scared me the most when I rode Dinosaur for the first time.. (then named CTX) the sheer loudness of it.

I love the ride now.. and I think it being loud is what makes it so intense and frightening.... it's basically and effect IMO.. without it.. it just wouldnt work..

Also... I oculd have sworn that when the head pops out at the end and you dive down that hill.. I thought I felt a big gust of air being shot at my face all the times I rode it.. or am I just imagining things? :hammer:

confirmed

I'll confirm that!

There is a big gust of wind at that point. What's wild is that the track that those cars run through the attraction on are smooth as silk, the cars have that rough bouncy system in them.

I honestly don't think I have seen half the ride- it freaks me out so much!! Most of the time I am not even looking because I am so scared! Yet I still like it and want to go on it again when we go on our next trip.

Dang, I am such a weirdo.

Is the attraction loud because they are covering the noise of the audioanimatronics or the hydraulics of the ride vehicle. Some audioanimatronics are very loud and need audio to cover the noise. Just a thought
