Trip Report Already? 2 broke guys for 2 more days of Music & Mickey!

Yes, yes, I know we just got back. We went in the middle of December, then again for Christmas, then again in the middle of January, and now - our third month in a row…

When: Feb 2-4
Where: All-Star Music, and All-Star Music (you’ll see.)

Wait, wait - that’s not right. Pretty close, but not right. Let’s try again.

OK but those were reject “blooper” pics from our last TR. Here’s one where we’re overdressed:

That’ll do.

And…Mickey.

Um, where was I? (The getting home and catching up delay is real!)

Some walks around the world turn out better than others. I forgot how much fewer booths there are during this particular festival. We are picky with these things, they are expensive! Some lines were longer than expected, others not bad.

Some I remembered to take pics, others not. But we went around the world.

Hey, France, what the heck is this? Miss Havisham?

We continued stumbling onto more live acts.

🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought this might just be depressing.

IMG_0588.jpeg

Skipped it. But this was cute.

IMG_0589.jpeg

I think we had a snack before this, will have to check my receipts because my memory is broken. The drinks are “a play on rosé” including one frozen. Not bad. The dish was excellent!! I want more. Love a parsnip purée.

And of course, musical accompaniment in German.

More…why did I take this pic?

IMG_0597.jpeg

To remind me to say I just realized I don’t have to make my husband climb all those stairs to get to Mexico!

But, my Caballeros have flown South for the “winter,” and we weren’t eating here - so there was not much to do.

Took a few pics. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi, pup.

IMG_0600.jpeg

Fun fact: This is the lady in the French display after a few more years. OK, not a fact at all.

We love Coco.

Hi, pup, again.

Then we forgot what we had just learned, and Brian walked down the stairs. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I had perused the Le Cellier menu over the years, mostly after hearing positive word of mouth. I never booked it because it seemed like…remember the restaurant Steak & Ale? (Maybe it was regional?) This seemed like Steak & Meh. Or I guess I should say, Steak & Eh. Eh?

I have to be really in the mood for a steak. The heart monitor I was wearing dampened that mood. I toyed with it, asked the difference between the filet from the entree portion of the menu and the “build your own.” Our server was on her second day. She did well. Let’s just start with some drinks.

👍🏻👍🏻

This day in particular felt like we were in a South Park movie. (“Blame Canada!”) That was the deciding factor in choosing this restaurant, especially knowing Canadians work there.

To my delight, it was full, even at late lunchtime on a Monday.

Brian did get the steak, NY strip. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Canadian NY strip?! It was delicious. He almost ordered the bison. I reminded him of the time I ordered bison from Jiko, and I could barely cut it with a knife, let alone chew it, so he shouldn’t get it medium rare. That’s when he flipped to the strip.

IMG_0612.jpeg

Their pretzel bread was delightfully light, btw. We loved that.

I ordered the cod. It was OK, but the sauce was kind of a vinaigrette that was very strong in some spots and completely absent in others. There were less-seasoned tomatoes as part of the dish, and heavily seasoned tomatoes that were part of the sauce, which took a bit of scrutiny in the dark setting to see which was which. I enjoyed the potatoes best.

So…yep. “Steak & Eh.”

Would we go back?

If strictly for the menu rather than empathy, yes, for one reason:

IMG_0613.jpeg

You know the test. Our server asked about dessert. I asked about sugar free. Off menu, they had an apple pie (not just “apple”) no sugar added sorbet. What?!

Now that was delish. And almost the size of Spaceship Earth. No, it’s not sugar free. But it didn’t send his sugar crazy. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And it’s an unusual flavor we don’t see elsewhere.

We were glad we stopped, and glad to try something new!

Once again, we were running short on time to see Julie at HS. We walked out to the buses and, continuing the theme, ours was right there.

IMG_0622.jpeg

Hi, pups!

To my surprise, B wanted to hang by the pool for a bit, even though there wasn’t much sun left to be had. OK.

IMG_0624.jpeg

I had some “deep rest” for a few minutes. Back to the room to change.

This was the first time we were ever along the right side of the pool. Our door was actually steps from the pool gate. (Ohhhh, “preferred.”)

And right back out into the night, through the gift shop.

Oh, yeah! The pic in the room of the thing!

Ok, I’ll play. Provided you didn’t buy one you didn’t show us, I’ll say you bought the dog and sunset one (that is the one I think I’d buy, though I would probably hesitate for a while with the one with the umbrella).

I thought the dog and sunset too - for me it seemed like it would be the right one for Tony & Brian.

Tony, I burst out laughing over your balloon drop "interpretation" comments . . . :hilarious:

Agree.

Agree. (That's 3 of us now, for dog and sunset!) :)

Not sure if I'm right, but I'll say the one with the dog in it. 🤭

I have no doubt it is the dog looking at the sunset.

Just to be different, I'm guessing the one with the dog in the boat.

All of this, especially the balloon drop comment.

COME ON @Tony the Tigger don't leave us hanging on the litho selection.

5 for dog and sunset, and, agreed I laughed over the balloon drop interpretation,I enjoy the myriad ways you're beautiful mind works!

You’re (almost) all geniuses.

Although, I kind of want to go back and get the one on the boat, too. Or the rain one. When is this festival over? Nah. Leave it alone.

Absolutely love that portrait. Wish they had places to look and buy those in September.
