hi to all
i will be staying at the allstar movies in 36 days:sohappy: and there are themed buildings is there any one that is the best to try and stay in.
also do you think a rental car would be a good thing or are the busses ok from there.

Any building is fine, but the fantastia building I believe is closest to the main entrance where the bus pick ups are. Oh and the Herbie section is close too!

As for renting the car, if you are going to stay on the disney property there is no reason to spend the money and rent a car, the buses take you to every theme park and run every 15 or 30 minutes.

Hope this helps

We've stayed at ASM twice, and it's really not worth it for the "Preferred" Fantasia buildings. If you request the Toy Story or 101 Dalmations buildings, you're just as close, and in some instances, closer, than certain rooms in the Fantasia building. But all buildings are good, theming wise. It just depends on which you prefer - puppies, toys, brooms, ice hockey or racing.

The busses are OK, but that depends on how much tolerance you have for waiting. My DH couldn't stand them, so we're renting a car this time around.

Oh, and one last note of interest, if you stay in the Mighty Ducks building, it's actually closer to walk to the Music bus stops than to the Movies!

If you don't plan on going off property much, I'd say forgo renting a car for the entire time you are there, but instead, you can rent one from Disney's Car Care Center (National & Alamo). We did this last time I was down since we wanted to go to Universal for the day and it worked fine. They have a mini-van that picks you up at your hotel and takes you to the Car Care Center to get the rental car. Also because we were going to be out really late that night, instead of returning the car early the next morning, we were able to drop it off at the Swan Hotel leaving the keys with the valet. It worked great.

The Fantasia building, I belive, are considered the closest. I've stayed in both and liked the classic Fantasia better for some reason. On my very first trip we stayed in the 101 Dalmations building and it was nice too, not too far away from the lobby/food court. The Love Bug building, MAN, was that a hike each morning to get breakfast. We were in the last build WAY at the back. After a couple of days we gave up and just drove to the main building for breakfast, then when we were done, left from there to the parks.

As for the cars vs buses, it's kind of a personal thing. I love taking the buses and find it a lot easier, but everyone else I travel with hates them, even though they've never been on them, because they've rented a car. Just remember that the All Star hold a lot of people so the buses do tend to get crowded. And it's loads of fun coming back from a trip to Downtown Disney with an arm load of packages only to have the bus make a stop at the water park to fill up on wet people who drip all over the floor, each other and your stuff!!!!

Hopes this help, and have a great trip!!

We stayed at the ASM last year in the Toy Story section. It was easy to get to the pool and food court, but a bit of a walk to the buses.

I agree, no need to have a rental car......use the Disney transportation, it works great (most of the time LOL) and saves you quite a bit. Also, less hassle than trying to find parking!

I believe the Unofficial Guide has maps of all the resorts and sugestions for good sections/rooms in each. If you look at the layout of the ASM, that might help!

Have fun.....the ASM has great photo opportunities

We always request the dalmation building when we stay there. I would call beofre you go and also ask when you get there.
We drive to WDW but our car does not move all week. We have never had any trouble with buses, a little full sometimes but that doesn't bother us.
