Allergy Shots

I'm hoping that someone else here gets allergy shots or at least can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a place around Walt Disney World that can give me my weekly allergy injections while I'm down there for my CP.

Well, I need more of a substantial place to go...more permanent since I'll be there for 4 months. Somewhere where I can leave my serum because my current Dr. won't let me bring it otherwise.

Then it sounds like that you need to line up an actual doctor up before you go. If you haven't already, I would contact the CP and speak with them as they might have some recommendations.

I would talk to your current Dr. and see if you can at least get a referral. Your Dr. may know someone or the hospital that he is affiliated with may have connections in that area to give you a referral.

All in all go and visit the Dr. and if you are not happy, take your serum to another Dr. Don't be afraid to walk away and choose someone else.

Good luck!

There was one girl who I was a CP with who claimed she was allergic to a ton of things yet we always saw her with those things so it was very confusing. Anyway I'm unaware of any Doctor down there or that she went to, but I can find out for you. When do you move down? I'm working at the TTC Sept 1, 2, and 3. If you want I'll try to find some info for you.

They were the first place I tried.

We're working with my Dr. now to figure something out. I wish they'd just let me give them to myself.

I would see if you can get a referral (or whatever you need) to an actual allergist in that area. They'd be more likely to be sympathetic to your plight, besides knowing the proper protocol for allergy shots.

Have you tried calling your insurance company and explaining the situation? They may be able to help, and you can make sure that they'll cover it.

JUST REMEMBERED!!! Anita Answer at All Ears may be able to help you with this. http://allearsnet.com/aa/aa031207.htm

As someone who spent many years on those shots (and they actually worked pretty well - I stopped getting them years ago and my allergies are only a problem a few weeks out of the year when pollen goes wonky), I hear you. I never got why diabetics could give the shot and I couldn't. Their excuse is they want to test you for that "reaction" (where they check your arm so many minutes later), but although I got a tiny bit of swelling once in awhile I never had one in a dozen years. In truth, it's just a way for them to charge you for a visit.

Anyway, you don't need a specialist or anything, BUT many allergy specialists do offer the service. That actually would be my first call - find a allergist down there in the yellow pages (or online equiv.) and call them and see what they say. Many of them aren't going to make you become an official "patient" of theirs (i.e. you don't have to go to a consultation or anything) just to store and admin your shots for a few months.
