allegiant air?

Has anybody had any experience flying with Allegiant Air? Sounds like the rates are really good but have a lot of fees. Also any thoughts about Orlando/Sanford airport and transportation to Disney resorts?

I have only flown them once a long time ago so I don't really recall that experience. But as for Sanford airport Disney doesn't run transportation to or from, only to/from Orlando International. I'd assume they have the basic car rentals or shuttle services for a fee as most airports do, just no magical express there

Allegiant is one of only a few airlines that services our local airport, so we have begrudgingly used them before. It's fine, if you don't mind feeling like cattle for a few hours. There are fees for everything, including water, but those fees are negligible when you consider the low rates for the tickets themselves. The service on-flight is no worse than any other airline these days. You know, as long as you pay for access to the TV screen in your seat back.

Where are you flying from on Allegiant? Dates? How many? What accommodation are you looking for...off property? on property? I will do some searching and let you know what I can find for you if you want?

I flew Allegiant May 2013...

We arrived 2 hours before departure, went through security as soon as possible and then waited to board.
I purchased a soda from a vending machine in the waiting room and took it on the plane with me...sodas on plane are $2.
We departed on time and in 2 hours we landed at Sanford, went to baggage, got our bags and headed for Alamo rental counter outside in front of terminal(very easy to find-follow sidewalk)
Picked up our keys and we were on our way to hotel near Hotel Plaza Blvd area (off site)
We arrived at our hotel less than 45 minutes

If you are planning to use Allegiant, don't let the 'fees' scare you away...it was a great flight! There were 2 of us traveling, we didn't take carry ons, the only luggage we took were 2 checked bags for each of us and we sat in the $11 cheap seat(from the wing to the back) That total for checked bags and luggage is $124...just add that to the F/H/C package price, that way you don't have to go through the entire website to check on the total price!
One suggestion I would urge you to do is plan a package deal with flight, hotel and rental car, you get more bang for your buck and everything is right there at the airport when you get off the plane and for returning the car you have to go to the airport anyways!

We had a package through Allegiant for about $950 per person including Flight, Hotel, Rental Car, park tickets, and a $100 price increase for rising prices before we went. I am planning a December 2017 trip right now and I just checked the prices for December 2014 and for 2 it was $174.00 just for the flight! So if you can wait until the month before to make your reservations, you may get a better deal!?

If you have any other questions about Allegiant flight, just send me a private message

We flew Allegiant Air twice a few years ago from Stockton, CA to Las Vegas. I would never fly them again.

A couple of stories for you.

The first time we flew we taxied out to the runway and we sat, and sat, and sat. Finally the cockpit door opens up and the co pilot rushes down the aisle and gets even with the wings and looks out at it, then returns to the cockpit. We take off and about 20 minutes into the flight the pilot comes on the intercom and says "I'll bet you're wondering what we were doing prior to take-off. Well we had a light on the dashboard that wouldn't go off, so we just visually checked the 'thing-a-majig' and took off. We'll have maintenance check it when we arrive in Vegas."

The second time we flew we boarded the plane (it had been totally shut off) and again we sat, and sat, and sat. Pilot comes on the intercom and says they are checking with the "home office" to "verify the correct procedure for starting the plane." As God is my witness that is what he said. You could have heard a pin drop.

So much for us flying Allegiant.

I also read an article on the internet recently that said in part that Allegiant has one of, if not the oldest fleet of planes. Something like average 23 years old. No thanks.

A few years ago, they had flights from Youngstown Ouio to Orl Int. We had 4 travelers. This was the year before they started charging a huge fee for carry ons. As we boarded, they told us they had no room left in the overheads so we had to check the bags. We argued that we indeed did see open space available but they said NO, took our carry ons and then proceeded to shut empty overheads. I was a good thing as it turned out because half our checked luggage was not sent to the resort (even with the yellow WDW tags) and we found them circling the luggage ramp. The other issue we had was that a seat in front of us was broken at the hinge in one side and the weight of the passenger caused it to lean back on my wife's knee. The attendant ignored us UNTIL we started taking pictures of the broken seat and all of a sudden, they told the man in that seat that it was unsafe and they had to move him. It was extremely convenient because we live 10 minutes from that airport but I won't use them again. On our return flight, we were right behind the wing and the noise was so loud, we had to wear foam eye plugs.

Allegiant has and is replacing their airplanes. We had an older plane on the flight down , but a new plane on the way back! If AMTRAK falls through for our 2017 trip we will be taking Allegiant again!
