Anyone have ane experience with Allegiant Air? They are starting service from Portsmouth NH to Orlando in October. I have never heard of them before but it may make me change my decision on whether to drive or fly.

I have never heard of them, but why not go with a namebrand carrier out of Manchester (Southwest, Independence) or Boston?

Their starting service in Newburgh/Stewrat Field too. Its only $39 dollars one-way from New York to Orlando. I already have my tickets for November. I am a little nervse though. Newburgh/Orange County has had trouble with low cost carriers. Southeast collapsed leaving passengers stranded while Pan Am Clipper Connection is going down in flames. But I hope this one will pull through!

$39 is hard to beat. I planned to drive anyways ( I am a chicken to fly) but at $39 I may have to re-think it.

well, right now Southwest is offering $49 fares out of Manchester. For the $10 more, id much rather go on a namebrand carrier, and fly into Orlando McCoy (the main airport) instead of Stanford (where Allegiant flies into)

Independence Air flies from Stewart to Washington-Dulles then onto Orlando. Not a direct flight but I love the airline. The fares are cheap considering what you'd get on American, Delta, etc. We've been flying Independence since Southeast tanked (we had tickets; what fun getting refunded for those). I'm going to sit tight and see how Allegiant pans out before buying any tickets. My mom was excited about Pan Am and that just didn't work.

I wouldn't buy any tickets for Independence for more than a month out, given that they have yet to post anything but losses

I've flown Independence once a week this summer to DC for business, (partly because they had the best prices/schedule from BOS-DC) and they seem pretty stable, for an airline that just completed a major change a year ago.

Their load numbers were in the 70%-80% range this summer, so that looks hopeful.

Allegiant Air is flying out of Springfield, MO, also, and those flights are about $39 to Orlando, but just for a short time. And, maybe someone can answer this for me....would I have to book through Disney to be able to be picked up at the airport? And, is it a certain Orlando airport or all of them (2 or 3?)? If I stay at an on-site resort, will I automatically be eligible to be shuttled to the resort?

Disney does NOT provide transportation from Orlando Sanford.

You will need to pay for your own transfers.

rent a car... it will be much cheaper than a cab or transfer from Sanford

As am ,I because flying out of Stewart would be easier than going to Newark or LaGuardia.

Very true, and with American and United matching fares that Independence puts out here in the west, it'll be very hard for them. I just wait out for the cheap fares. There was a fare from LAX-MCO non-stop on American for $98 roundtrip recently.
