I think back then it was harder to sue an amusement park for a dangerous ride. There were no state or federal guidelines amusement parks had to follow therefore they were not liable for injury. A lot of the amusement parks were traveling so if you got hurt, they handed you some free tickets and then disappeared into the night. That was a time if you got hit by a car or carriage, it wasn't the driver's problem.
