For lack of finding it in this Section already, i just wanna pay my respects to Alien Encounter and how it was an important pinnacle of success in my adolescent life when I was faced with the hard decision that I had to start toughening up and facing my fears in life....starting with Alien Encounter.

Heh...and then Tower of Terror a year later...

*stands up straight* but nonetheless, thank you Alien Encounter. Thank you.

Alien Encounter was a great, often maligned, often misunderstood, entertaining diversion from the status quo.

It's very uniqueness was it's strength and it's downfall.

Did it belong in the Magic Kingdom? No. But isolated apart from the context in which it was physically placed, I loved it. It was one of the best sensory experiences devised by the Imagineers.

(Although I have to say I never liked the sinister pre-show by the unrepentant, remorseless, even relentless S.I.R. His cruelty just made me plain uncomfortable.)

Yep. It died way too young, but that happens to a lot of the greats in the entertainment industry and can happen to theme park attractions as well.

Let's put it this way, I would have rather had 8 years of the way the attraction was than a lifetime's worth of something dumbed down.

I think for people that like theatre Alien Encounter was great. I really don't like live performance stuff. I don't want to be shuffled around into rooms standing (OK except for HM, lol) I never liked Alien Encounter! Granted I look back on it much fonder than Stitch. I really dislike Stitch.

I miss Alien Encounter sooo much! Especially with Stitch in its place. :brick: I could not tell you a single thing I enjoyed about Stitch.
