Please help!

From what I've read, Alamo now has a counter inside MCO? Is this true?

Thanks for replies!

Looks like it is. Wouldn't be surprised if they are sharing with National since they are owned by the same company.

They in fact do have their own counter right on airport. Last time I was there I used them and waited approx. 45 minutes just to get to a person and then another 45 minutes in the garage waiting to check out my car. The issue seems to be lack of attendants and tons of people. Anyone who books a trip through disney will end up with Alamo since they are the official rental car company. It would have been quicker to go off site in a shuttle and get a car!

I arrived at MCO last year on a Monday morning at about 9am.
There was no line up and 3 people behind the desk waiting to serve me.
I got my paperwaork signed with no problem, walked across to the parking lot and picked up my van from a choice of 15 or more.
It could'nt have been easier.
I guess it depends on the time of day you get there.
The whole process from picking up my suitcases to driving off the lot....20 mins (by the way,,,heres a tip on how to beat the crowds on your flight. If you are travelling with a fmily member who is capable of picking out the suitcases on the carousel, you can go immediately to check out your vehicle while everyone is waiting for their suitcases. In our case the auto rental desks were right downstairs from the carousels))

Must be time of day. I usually catch the 3:00 or so in the afternoon and sure enough 6:00 or 6:30 I'm standing in line waiting and waiting cyring kid just wanting to go to sleep. Aghhh.... I just can't rent from them again. I'm going to use National. Yes same set up and next counter over since they own them but I am a emerald Isle member. Skip the counter and right to the aisle pick any car and off to the booth. No hassles no insurance questions etc... all in my profile. Should work pretty well.

We rented from national last time (it was our 1st time renting a car and we weren't sure what to expect.) It couldn't of been easier. National and Alamo are right next to each other, and share cars in the garage. The only difference was there were 20 people in line in at Alamo, and 2 in frount of us at National. We were in and out with in 20 min. No problems.

Check in was major easy too. Just pull in the parking sturture, unload the car. A guy with a hand held comptuer comes up, makes sure everything is ok and hands us a piece of paper, you are checked out.

Given the choice between the 2 National seemed a bit better, just because less people in line. I agree with MotoDisney.

Great to here your positive feedback! I remeber waiting in line at Alamo and looking over and there was hardly any one in National's line. From what I understand National is more geared to business travelers. (tourist far outnumber these here) They are usually a bit more expensive but if you use the right coupon you may actually be able to beat the price. I used the Enterntainment book and got 20.00 off the weekly rate.

See ya!

Everytime I book a car, I get the best price from National hands down. No one else comes close to it (except one time Budget was renting those Ford Rangers for $20/day - couldn't beat that with a bat!! We helped relatives move some stuff around during the time we were there too!)

The web sites are deceiving, National is usually the only one that gives you all the tax costs right up front in the quote. We are renting a intermediate from the emerald aisle (which means I'll look for an Impala or Monte Carlo instead of a Pontiac Grand Am or Olds Alero) for $292.00 for 8 1/2 days using a coupon from BJs wholesale clubs.

Isn't an impala or montecarlo a full size? I know you can grap whatever is in the isel I booked for the first time using it and the gaurantee a minimum of intermediate yes?

Monte Carlo is Standard
Impala is Full Size

They guarantee you an intermediate but I am always able to find a bigger car without problem. The best part is that it doesn't cost any add'l money!
