We read somewhere recently that Alamo car rental now has an actual Airport location pickup (as opposed to getting the bus to McCoy Rd).
Anyone know if this is true?
or
Is it just an Airport Alamo check in desk.....but the car itself has to be picked up from McCoy Rd?

the previous address was McCoy Rd (about 10 min bus ride)....but I'm still not sure whether this new address is a ticket and key pickup?(then onto mcCoy Rd)....or is this where the car itself is picked up???

Alamo is in the airport. National split its counter space, and half of it is now Alamo. (They're both divisions of ANC.)

Get in the long line (unless you've got Quicksilver), and when you finally get your paperwork done, go across the street and upstairs to claim your car. Worked fine for us in February. (Of course, I have Quicksilver, so we bypassed the line....)

We just rented from Alamo in Jan 2003 and I will probably never rent from them again.

They are at the terminal now, which is why we rented from them. (With a 3yr old and all our luggage, car seat etc. it's much easier to rent from the terminal). I went up to the counter to rent the car while DH kept our son busy. IThey asked if there was going to be any other drivers and I said my husband would drive. The CSR said that would be an additional $5 a day. We have rented from many car agencies, I even worked for one of the major ones for over 3 years, and never heard of paying for the spouse to drive. So me and DH switched places and he rented the car under his name.
The CSR put down that we wanted the insurance which we never take, so we had to get that changed.
We went to the get the car and were told we had to pick a 2 door car b/c we got economy....fine with us. There was only one in the lot, which we loaded up all our stuff into...only to find both back seat belts were not working. Took us 20 minutes to track someone down to help us. Finally found a guy, who was less then happy to help us, and he told us to take any car in the compact section. We asked him to initial our paperwork that we would not be charge extra for a 4 door car and he didn't want to do it.
Finally 1 hour later, we were on our way.

Gee, we had the complete opposite situation. The counter guy I had was nice, we had no problems in the lot, and the only delay we had was getting out of the lot because there were tons of people leaving the lot at the same time, and the folks in front of us had major changes at the check-out booth.

Of course, I had Quicksilver, we were renting a minivan, and I was going to be the only driver....
