Alamo car hire

Hi we have booked our visit to wdw in September with virgin which we have also hired a car from Alamo we have got the platuim package which includes every thing but in the brouche it says about having credit card but don't know why as everything is paid for including the insurance through virgin we only have debit cards so we can control wot we spend will they accept this as had different stories

My experience with rental cars is limited, but so far I have yet to run into one that will take a debit card (even if it has a Visa, M/C, etc. logo) as the security card on file without putting a hold on a certain amount of funds. From what I have read, it seems to be up to the discretion of the individual rental agency. Some will, some won't. The info I have on Alamo is a bit outdated, so things might have changed, but they were at one time putting a $300 or more hold when using a debit card.
