Alamo at MCO much easier now...

Don't know if this is "brand new" or not -- haven't been to Alamo at MCO for almost a year and a half. I did notice on the site that they now have check-in machines.

The big complaint about using Alamo at MCO is that EVERYBODY uses it. They have the lowest rates of any "on site" rental. So the line is always 30+ minutes to get the car. Just wondering if this check-in helps move the car. Also, it must be nice not to have to be asked 500 times to buy the extra insurance. I DON'T NEED IT!!!

It's not that much easier since most people I've encountered don't have the either the will or the mental capacity to use the machines

The 2 times I rented with Alamo, I checked in online and bypassed the whole line. You just go out to the parking deck and select a car from your reserved car class and show the attendant at the exit booth your drivers license and reservation printout.

This is by far better then waiting on line or I guess watching people try to use a machine to check themselves in.

Another option is to register for Alamo's Quicksilver program.
You can check with your employer to see if your company participates in the program, or you can just register yourself as a "Small Business".

While Quicksilver isn't quite as fast as National's Emerald Aisle, there's a separate line to wait in. In Orlando, you don't wait in line at the regular counter, you go out to the counter in the garage and they check you in out there. Usually there's no line at all. (At least the two times that I've done this there hasn't...)

We had no problem with Alamo when we went two weeks ago and found it to be quite fast actually. In fact we rented a full size car but had enough luggage that the guy at the counter saw the luggage and what we had rented that he told me we needed to upgrade to an SUV or we would have people sitting on bags in the car as the trunk would not hold that much. I had to pay an extra $10 a day for the second driver on the car, which we knew about and expected. So then the guy at the counter says I'm gonna do you a favor and asks me if I would rather pay for the extra driver or the upgrade to an SUV, then proceeds to show me the cost difference. extra=$70 and SUV upgrade = $177. I said duh, I will pay for the extra driver in that case lol. (He was being funny and so was I). So I upgraded at the last minute and saved $100 basically. We got a Chrysler Pacifica Touring class SUV. A little small for SUV's but very sporty, quick and peppy. Plenty of room for the luggage. It had 160 on the speedometer at the highest marked speed which told me it was very fast lol, and every time coming off a redlight I freaked out my wife as I basically burned rubber as they say from the stop ahahahaha!!! I stopped that after I got used to it. But definately a nice experience with Alamo, and when we left Orlando just dropped it off with the keys in the garage and had a skycap take our bags up to the airport check in. maybe 5 minutes or less dropping off. Quick, convienent, and friendly is what we experienced.:king:

We used them last month during Spring Break. Three planes had arrived about the same time and it took almost 90 minutes to get processed. We had a beautiful Pacifica though and drop off was a breeze, the people couldn't have been nicer.
