Well, it looks like starting on August 31st, Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular will be dark on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. :(

Lucky for me, I'm in class all day both those days, so I can't go on Tues/Wed anyways... :p

Do they have trouble filling the house on those days or is it a case that Eisner wants a new car?

Probably a little of both. Summer's been busy enough (opening the top balcony level at many shows) but in the off-season the show's been very quiet. Last March/April there were shows I went to where only the orchestra (main) level was ever opened, and even then it only half-filled.

At the same time, I think that's a pretty major attraction in the park. It's one of their "highlights" of DCA all the time, so it seems odd to me to close that two days a week. Then again, it's an entirely equity cast of about 27, so I'm sure it's very expensive to run 7 days a week.

I was supposed to be at an audition for this show last week, but wasn't able to make it at the last minute. I was very disappointed :(

What is the capacity of the auditorium and how many shows a day do they perform?

The theater can seat 2,011 people at full capacity. :) Now, in the summer, they're doing 4 shows a day, 7 days a week. During the past offeason, it was 3 shows a day Mon-Thurs and 4 shows a day Fri-Sun.

Awwwww! :( So it's audition time for the show again... I assume for the cast arriving November-ish?

Are you equity? If it is a full equity cast, it is very expensive to run the show (my guess would be the leading roles were the only equity actors). I'm interested in preforming for Disney too! I can't wait until next April when the Disney Cruise Line auditions come to San Diego!
:sohappy:
This year I'll be ready!
