According to the above article, "Proud of Your Boy" WILL be integrated into the film, despite the fact that Amazon.com previously stated that it would be an extra only. However, it does not say whether the version that is integrated into the film will be sung by Brad Kane (I sure hope so!).

I, for one, am curious how well this will work with Aladdin singing to his dead mother - a key question for fans since the announcement of the song's inclusion on the DVD months ago.

I'm curious as well. :)

Kirsten---do you know if any footage of the show is making it into the DVD? I swear someone mentioned that long ago. I really hope so. (or it just better be playing at the Hyperion next year!) :D

Only 111 more days until it is released! (yes, I do have a ticker counting down the days until released......what a freak I am..... )

I know that they actually taped one of the special features on the stage at the Hyperion last Feb, cause I was there that day. :p And if I recall the article about it, they at least used some of the show's performers in the special feature, although I don't know for sure that it was really show footage. I believe they also spent two days shooting in the Hyperion. I hope they didn't use and show footage from the day I was there, cause looking back in my LiveJournal, it was the Aladdin that I can't stand. :p

I do know, however, that the Disney DVD people that took up the entire mezzanine at the 5 pm show that day were some of the most obnoxious flash-photo-rule-breakers I've ever seen in that theater. Flash photos, non-stop. And these weren't promo shots for the DVD, these were "I'm taking photos with my disposable camera just for the heck of it" photos. :fork:

LOL! I keep an eye on the countdown clock at www.aladdincentral.org That day is a Tuesday, and I don't start class til 10:40 on Tuesdays this fall... so I can go line up at the door to Best Buy. :sohappy: I still think it's cute that the movie is released on DVD on Scott Weinger's birthday. :p

If A Musical Spectacular runs the full 3-year stint that they say it's supposed to, then yes, it should still be there next year. I will cry for a long time when it leaves... :p

That means it's 110 days until my birthday! Oct. 4! One year and Cinderella will come out on my birthday!

Ahh Disney 90 movies, it was such a golden age. Will they also have Hunchback and Hercules, great movies in my opinion you just had to be a littl eolder to understand hem, because i remeber hating them when i was about 9 or 10 when i saw em in the theatre, now they are some of my faves.

Hey James, we must be close to the same age. I turn 16 on October 1, but I won't be getting my licence until after that. Anyway, I remember getting Aladdin the movie on my birthdday becuase it came out on video that day. I can't wait to see the added stuff and the Circle of Stars singing another song. I hope it's a good DVD.

I don't see how it's possible for them to add that song without adding quite a bit of backstory to set it up, and what about the line "I'd blame parents except he hasn't got em" ? POYB was to be sung to Aladdin's mother (And also made a brief referrence to his father) so I can't imagine them putting it into the movie itself... Although I'd love to see it. POYB has always been one of my fave deleted Disney songs.

I suppose if they make it clear that he's singing to his mother in heaven, it could work. I do wonder, though, about one line from POYB: "I wasn't born perfect like dad or you." It's been established that Aladdin's father was FAR from perfect. So I think that line needs to be changed.
