Dear all,

I am new to this message board, but not to Disneyworld. I have been many times in the past 20 years. This, however, is my first stay at the animal kingdom lodge. I will be taking my Dad (just the two of us) and it is his first trip. We have booked a savannah view room and I am so excited! Has anyone stayed here, and if so, what did you think? Thanks for your help!

Your going to have a great time at AKL. I think it's the best of the WDW resorts. Well worth every penny.

There are a lot of little things to look out for in the lodge itself. Stuff like the storytelling at night, the little tours of the lodge, talking to the CMs about the animals.

Bring a pair of binoculars. You hit yourself if you don't. They have a few distance viewers around the resort, but nothing like having you own.

Also, don't miss out on Boma. We never did the dinners, but the breakfast was just great. You'll be eating there every morning. :slurp:

One last not, don't forget to rub the wall covering on the way out of the lodge every morning to give you luck. You'll see it, right between the inner doors. :sohappy:

Thanks for all of the great advice! I will certainly bring binoculars. I have seen pictures of the lodge on line and it looks gorgeous! I can't believe I'll be ther in 40 days!!!

Ask at guest services at AKL for the hidden Mickeys clues list. If you and your dad find them all and bring the list back you can get a prize.

AKL is fantastic, definitly take the binocs and a camera with telephoto lense if you have one.

We saw lots of animals every day from our S-view room balcony. It was very cool. It's all grazing type animals, zebras, giraffs, etc., no meat eaters.

The hotel is amazing, the pool is great, and Boma restaraunt is very good.

Hey guys,

AKL is unbelievably beautiful, a completely perfect place to stay, and if you have that Savannah view try to wake up early, the animlas will come in to eat. I stayed there last year for Earth Day, and we got some rediculous rate for PH, something like $90 per night, it was the best hotel stay and experiance we have ever had.

Have fun and try to take one whole day just for the hotel, you'll thank yourself for it.
