AKL Standard View

Well with the latest credit crunch this year we've only managed to pay for a standard view at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The one thing that I'm worried about is the noise if we're beside the bus stops etc. Has anyone stayed in a Standard room before and if so what was it like? I would add at this point that I appreciate that you get what you pay for ...

Just curious with what I should anticipate.

We had a first-floor standard room in December that was very close to the front entrance and lobby (which was nice), on the opposite side from the bus stop. Unfortunately, that is where they unload luggage from ME, which means a lot of beeping and clanging - starting around 6:00 AM! We were only there for a weekend so it was not that big a deal, but my suggestion to you is to request "top floor, as far from the entrance as possible".

My party had 3 standard view rooms at AKL in 2007 - all of them in different areas. No one complained about noise. Our room was 1 floor up from the lobby. It was very quiet. All of the rooms in our party were fairly close to the lobby. Having stayed in a couple of the Savanah view rooms in the past, I can say I appreciated having a room closer to the lobby/dining/pool because we were traveling with an 1 yr old. Some of the Savanah view rooms we had in the past were a pretty good hike to get back to the lobby.

The room is setup just the same as a Savanah View - minus the view. I thought the room was fine: 2 queen beds, mini fridge, 2 sinks outside the bathroom. Pretty normal stuff. Some people feel that most of the rooms a AKL are a little small for the money, but it didn't bother me.
