AKL or WL?

Hey guys! :wave:

We're in the midst of planning our next WDW vacation and I would like to know how people would compare the Wilderness Lodge to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I've stayed at the AKL, but never at the WL. What are the comparisons bbetween the two? Thanks!

AKL it is huge and it is better than WL. Whats better than waking up to looking out at animals from your window?

i never stayed at the AKL, but the WL is a fantastic resort. the service we had was impeccable. although I know you will not have animals right outside your room, you do have a geyser that is pretty cool to watch go off and you are right on the lagoon. Me and my wife found it to be a very quiet resort, away from all the rushing and hub bub of the ordinary disney day. the restaurants are very good and the food excellent (try artist's point). they also have a small bufeteria where you can get a quick breakfast or some fast food during the day. they even have a lounge/bar where after a long day at the park, you can enjoy a beer or drink or your choice.

WL highly recommended.

I've never stayed at the WL, and like you I have stayed at AKL. But I have visited the WL several times.

Last year we stayed at AKL, and went over to WL for dinner at Artist Point. What a great resturant. Great food, service, well just about everything was great.

We walked about the lodge for a while before and after dinner. The place looks great, and since it was built and designed by the same architect as AKL, you get alot of the same feelings and looks from the lodge that you get from AKL.

Outside (and this was at night), was quiet, tranquill, and relaxing. I like the guyser in the back. I did find the lobby to be quite busy and loud, more so that AKL, but this could just have been the time of the night.

If I were to choose, and well I guess I have cos' we are returning to WDW this fall again, I'd still do, and we are, AKL again. We are big animal lovers, and AKL just caters more towards are interests.

But, if AKL wasn't around, WL or Poly would be my second choice.

Both locations stink....

WL- MK area
AKL- AK area

There both a good distance form MGM and EPCOT......

WL....is more rustic....while AKL is more of Savanah....

IMO- WL seems to be more well themed.....AKL is a resort with animals outside.....given AKL is a beautiful resort.....but to me it seems very dry and hot...compared to WL which seems shaded and cool

If u have young kids WL is ur best bet...because they have the boat to MK......

AKL is great for older children that can respect the fact that Animals are outside there window....and apprieceate that....

Either way the choice is urs.....and both resorts are incredible...and well themed.....

But wouldn't you say that Disney got the AKL right then cos' the savannas are dry and hot...

Both resorts are great tho...

I am staying at WL in Aug. and cant wait. Have a great time. In my opinion AKL is to spread out. Long walk from one end to the other.

wl IS MUCH BETTER IMO
It has a better atmosphere , although ak is okay. I thought
the animal viewing area was rather small.

I would have to say WL. They just made new villas. You got a nice pool and slide and you got the boats to go on the lagoon. Animla Kingdom Lodge you realy only got the SMALL animal viewing and the humongo pool.
