AKL Dining Options...

Hey guys....Whenever I go to Disney I plan way to far ahead and try to figure out all the places I want ot eat and things to do...LOL, I guess that is normal for disney fanactics...

But anyways, I want to go see the Animal Kingdom Lodge, it looks amazing form the pics. So I figured I would go eat there when I go to Animal Kingdom. But first a few questions...How far is it form the park, walking distance?? And which restaurant is better to eat at Jiko or Boma? I understand Boma is a buffet.

Thanks, can't wait for everyones opinion! :)

You can't walk to AKL from any park. You will have to use some form of transportation (either car or bus).

The restaurant choice really depends on your liking. If you want a buffet with the Different tastes, try Boma. If you would like a more gourmet meal (and a more expensive one), Try Jiko. Both restaurants are very good though.

I ate at Boma for breakfast....no other meals at AKL other than Mara. The breakfast was great, I'd like to go back again. If you can, try and go before a day at AK.

Meega, nala kwishta!
We've stayed at AKL twice now. Like DisneyInsider said, you cannot walk antwhere from there.

I've eaten at Boma's for breakfast many, many times. We just love it. But I've never eaten dinner there, but I've heard it is just as good as breakfast.

We did do Jiko for dinner once. A wonderful place to eat. You do have to be a bit adventerus, but you will be well rewarded. And the food is very good, and well worth the money. It's no more expensive as any of the other nice places Disney has to eat at like Chefs de France, Narcooseese, or places like that.

I'd say you have to decide if you want a buffet or sit down served dinner experiance, either way, you'll get good food.

Eat up...:slurp:

I would say.. if you have the money, go to Jikos, and LEAVE room for the Dessert Sampler. This is not a suggestion, you MUST DO this if you eat there.

However, if you want to save some dough, Boma's is nice as well.

I will also say you cannot walk to AKL from any park, you must get a ride there, or drive.

We stayed at AKL last year, and ate at both Boma and Jiko for dinner, and Boma again for breakfast. I would recommend Jiko, as long as you are looking for a true dining experience. The wine selection is impressive (South African wines), and the restaurant has wonderful ambiance. Very few kids. Boma is a buffet, probably an "upscale" buffet and it has a nice twist in that some of the food is African--but still a buffet. Definitely do one of the restaurants, however, because the hotel is beautiful.
