Akershus or CRT

We are going back to Disney in April with our daughter before she turns 3. I’m debating about trying for CRT reservations or going back to Akershus. She enjoyed the princess parade and loved all of the princesses at Akershus when we went last time.

Trying to see if CRT is worth the extra cost, especially for an almost 3 year old. Or if it would be better to wait until she will remember it more. Any insights?

Quite honestly, CRT was kind of a waste of money. Not a single person in my entire party, including the 4 year old, liked the food there. Akerhaus was a much better experience; she even got to spend more time with the princesses there.

If you want the once in a lifetime opportunity to point and say we ate there than go for it, otherwise for the Princesses and food I vote Akerhaus.

Thank you! I was thinking the same and we really enjoyed Akerhaus last time we went. But my friend said CRT was amazing.

With CRT I guess it depends on what type of food your family enjoys. I am a bit more adventurous; however, the rest of my family is too simple. CRT tried to serve fancier dishes, but IMO they fell a bit flat with the flavor. So the dishes didn't work well for me, and my family didn't enjoy them because there were too many ingredients they hate. I hate the "picky" argument; however, my DH is an adult and I can only do so much lol:p. However, for that price, the food better be freaking perfect and really it wasn't.

For atmosphere though it was amazing hands down. However, I don't think we will ever pay that type of money to go ever again.

We've always enjoyed breakfast at CRT, but this past September we tried dinner. Honestly, we loved everything about it - food, atmosphere, location & entertainment. Your daughter will get a magic wand and wishing star at CRT for the wishing ceremony when there's music, fanfare and "fireworks".

Both restaurants are "magical" in their own way. You'll get an equal amount of for or against for both restaurants here. Go with your gut.

Here are other reviews if it helps -

If you do go around dinner though make sure you budget about 2 to 2.5 hours of time. I'm not sure how it is during other times of the year but when we went in June it took us almost an hour past our reservation time to get a seat. Dinner was done about an hour and a half long.

Again, every experience is different. It is good to be careful so you don't get upset over changed plans. It's supposed to be a fun vacation, not a stressful one.

We had a 4 pm dinner reservation late September (which was crowded due to the mini-vacation northern schools had as well as MNSSHP that evening). We were out in time for our 5 & 6 pm FastPasses before MNSSHP kicked in.

Worth is subjective...but if you've got a child who is in to princesses or anyone in your group who just loves the castle, I think it's worth going to CRT at least once.

We've had B,L&D at Akershus and CRT. Food is a subjective thing that's also inconsistent. Breakfast at CRT was a lot better than Akershus to us, but I know others who feel it's the reverse. We liked the food for L & D better at Akershus...and again, I know others who feel the opposite.

If you're on DDP, I would never burn two credits on CRT. It's much better OOP, but I do think the castle setting gives CRT an edge if this is about the experience.

Thanks.
Your card will be charged when you book. You can leave it like that and use the DDP for your other meals.

Although I have to talk to my husband about it because he really liked Mickey’s backyard BBQ last time we went and wanted to go again. I have a feeling our daughter would like that better than CRT.

Then do that. There's no right or wrong with a Disney trip. It always works out to be a wonderful, magical time. Don't stress over reservation times, restaurants, fast passes, etc. It always seems to work out and you will be happy with everything you planned and experienced.
This isn't the first trip and it won't be the last. Do what you know will be best for her. There's always next time for something new. You still have many more years of it being awe-inspiring magic for her.
(My daughter experienced the princess meals a month before she turned 4. That was her first trip. She'll be jealous if I tell her your daughter has already been there so young! :joyfull:)

The only thing I have to contribute (because I was more than one poster getting it wrong) is that it's not Akerhous - it's Akershus.

So we did CRT with my daughter at that age and it was amazing. They brought her food and gave her a wand even though officially they "don't do that" for kids that young. She had so much fun and the food was really good. She was two months shy of 3 at the time and so excited to eat in "Cindergrella's" castle.
