On our trip in May, we decided to use one table credit for a character breakfast(although we are college students, but kids at heart)

Which one is better?
I heard food, 1900 is better
Characters, Akershus
but all together I have heard mixed reviews.

I just know I wanna meet some princesses, which is Akershus but I'm a little turned off by the bad reviews :( any suggestions?

So I've been to 1900 for breakfast and Akershus for dinner. If Akershus breakfast is anything like their dinner, go to 1900 Park Fare. The food was extremely bad at Akershus and the service was not good.

The other plus side of going to 1900 Park Fare is just being in the Grand Floridian and seeing how gorgeous the resort is.

1900 Park Fare does not have Princesses at breakfast. Pooh, Tigger, Alice, Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins. Sometimes Snow White is in the rotation when one of the above characters is out. Food at breakfast is excellent.

I tried 1900 Park Fare for Breakfast, there's no princesses(of course) and had english characters from UK, but the food was good(even though i didn't eat alot because I was too excited), but i haven't had Akershus, but will do it next trip, it has princesses.

I'm really sad to hear that.

My family has had dinner at Akershus several times, we really like the food (think IKEA cafeteria) and have always had excellent service.

It depends on what is more important to you, the food or the Princesses. It's an experience more than a meal. The breakfast at Chef Mickey's is on par with most Denny's and IHOP's, but having your picture taken with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy is what you are really paying for. I say go for the Princesses, not the food and enjoy yourself.

We went to Akershus November 2015 for the Princess breakfast. We found the food really good, and our server outstanding. We got to see Belle, Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella and Ariel. So for princess action this was awesome.

We just went to Akershus for breakfast in October and the food was really good. The service was a little bit slower because our ADR was at 8:05am so everyone was really being seated all at once. But I wouldn't say the service was bad though. We liked the offerings on their cold buffet and the hot food served family style was typical Disney breakfast. Here are some pictures:

Some of the cold buffet options. I forgot to take a picture of my plate. Oops. But I had the mackerel, Gjetost cheese (I think it's addictive), and other breakfast breads. This was my huband's plate.

And this is the breakfast food served family style. I'm not a big breakfast eater so we didn't get a second plate. My husband loves his breakfast and he said he wouldn't mind going again if we were on the dining plan. He didn't think it was worth it for us to pay out of pocket because I don't even enough early in the morning to justify the cost.

You definitely get to see the princesses and I didn't feel like they skipped over us because we were adults without kids. Also, because our breakfast ADR was before EPCOT opening hours, we were able to be seated, eat our breakfast, and be able to get in line for Frozen Ever After before the park opened :) We only had about a 20 minute wait.

I actually prefer Akershus dinner. We ate there October 2014 and, again, we liked their cold buffet. And the Norwegian meatballs were really good. And we loved the dessert sampler they brought out. I don't have any pictures of that though :)

Liked Akershus for breakfast a lot. They brought the platters of food and it was all good standard breakfast items. The chance to have so many Princesses come and spend time with my children was fantastic. They do a little princess parade too where all the children join in and its cute because you get to see all the little ones dressed up like princesses. My husband said he did not enjoy it here at all....but he always dislikes the ones everyone else really enjoys!

We have not been to 1900 for breakfast. Its was on last year's plan but we ended up moving some days around and it no longer fit into our schedule well so I had to cut it and replace with something else. We did do dinner there a couple years ago and it was ranked by almost everyone in our family as the least liked place we ate at that trip. Our character interaction was not good. It felt minimal and rushed and they really had little personality. I know others have had fun experiences there so I guess we just had an off night. The food on the buffet I guess just wasn't much to our taste. We had a lot of other buffets that trip and felt they offered many more choices that we liked. I left a lot on my plate uneaten because I just did not care for it when I tried it and that is unusual for me.

I'd make your choice based on the characters you prefer (although the strawberry soup at 1900 PF puts it over the edge for me!).

The lobster eggs Benedict at 1900 is delicious. The breakfast is much better at 1900 overall. My best tip for this place is to book as late a breakfast as possible, 11:00 am or so. We did this last time we were there, peak summer season. They don't do lunch, so the place was emptying out towards the end of breakfast to the point where it was our table and one other. The characters had no one to spend time with except our two tables. Needless to say we got massive character time!! Most we've ever had. We took photos with multiple characters at once. Way worth it.

That said, however, if it's the princesses you want, then Akershus is the place, but the breakfast itself is nothing to write home about.

I've done both Akershus and 1900 Park Fare for both breakfast and dinner. I would give the edge to Akershus for breakfast and Park Fare for dinner (Park Fare features different characters at dinner than breakfast; for breakfast we saw Alice, Mad Hatter, Tigger, Pooh, Mary Poppins). They are both really good choices, though! Enjoy!
