Was the only breakfast time slot left when I was making the reservations. I really did not want this early time slot, but with our party of 10 our options were limited.

Is there any advantages to having the early timeslot before the park officially opens? Since the breakfast will be done roughly around rope drop time, are there any rides or attraction in that general area that we should hit up?

No rides in that direction at all. You will have about the same walk, if not farther to the rides. It is unlikely you will be done in 1 hour also. With all the Princesses and time it takes to get seated, we were there about 90 minutes.

We've done the 8:05a before at Akershus. I personally enjoy getting into the parks before they officially open and snap pictures with little to no crowds. Akershus is a pretty decent hike from the two park entrances, so you won't have a ton of time to linger like you might in MK. Still, it's pretty neat to have the "I have the place to myself feeling."

(we were staying at YC this trip- so we entered via the IG and went through the WS)

The good part, with the introduction of the new FP system, you don't need to run to grab fastpasses. If it were me, I'd book my tier 1 FP for Soarin' and then make my very first ride be Test Track. Test Track also is easier to get to, distance-wise, from Norway. I'm pretty certain breakfast was just about an hour, so you won't be getting out early or anything like that...but it's still fun.

We had an 8:20am adr last year and we loved the early time slot. The early ones are hard to come by, a very nice person let me have theirs since they were cancelling it. We were one of the first tables sat. I do think we were there past the 9am park opening. We were able to go right to Future World and hit up our fps for Soarin, Test Track and Living with the Land.
