AK... what is this kiosk exactly?

Saw this large, antiquated computer station in AK today and I couldn't tell if it was a prop or if it was an actual device to be operated by CMs only. There were no CMs anywhere around, and I found it odd that they would leave it unmonitored. Unless of course, it's just a really well designed prop. :-) Anyone know?

It is for the use of CMs as you can see a headset hanging off it which acts as their auto cue as well as microphone to explain to guests what they are seeing on screen. Just my guess any way.

Interesting. The thing was nearly right smack in the middle of the room and had modules with buttons and switches that were just begging to be touched by a 4 year old. Never seen something like this left completely unattended and so likely to be messed with.

That's some pretty old video tech in it that dates from around park opening or soon afterwards. My guess is that it may play some kind of video loop with audio on the headsets to create the sense of an ongoing hippo study going on. I'm thinking prop. We have those vcr's at work and they haven't been used in years. We use them for old archived tapes from when that format (looks like beta or 3/4") was state o' the art.

If it took more then one bullet, you weren't using a Jacobs.
Different Pandora. It is the one with blue people, not the one psycho midgets in hockey masks.

In reference to the original question...It is my understanding that it is a prop that the cast will use. It is basically made to look like a bunch of live video feeds from the savannah.

Direct feed into Hippo Television or HTV as the kids like to call it these days.
No really it looks like a cast member or guest used monitor to be able to zoom in on the hippos to watch them on a magnificent black & white monitor. The headphones...not sure how much you are going to hear from watching the hippos.

They have a bunch of random "techie" looking stuff along the trails. It may serve a slight purpose like Yoda says and acts as the CM's headset, but I'm pretty sure most of it is for show.
