AK Rope drop

Planning a last minute trip to AK for Friday. Have some friends who haven’t seen Pandora yet. Anyone do rope drop recently? Will we be able to do both FoP and NRJ with under 60min wait times? Checked this week and all wait times seem astronomical again :(

Looking for advice.

Thanks

I accidentally did rope drop last September. My wife and I accidentally arrived about 45 minutes early and I am glad we did. We ended up having a very short wait to get into Pandora because the Flight of Passage line behind us grew very quickly. We did not go to the River Journey afterward so I do not know how that grew.
Get there a little early and you should be good for one or the other for sure.

I recently read a rope drop report from a blogger who I can't link to here, but the advice was that if you want to rope drop Pandora, you'll want to get there super early -- the recommendation was 75-90 minutes before official park opening time (or 60 minutes before EMH opening), so you're right in front of a tapstile. Any later than that, and there will [supposedly] be hundreds of people in front of you, 99% of whom are headed to FoP. (Na'vi River Journey is a walk-on for a while, since almost nobody goes there first.) YMMV.

My experience in January was that they open Pandora a half hour before park opening. If you're not at the front of that line, your wait for FoP will still be over an hour.

I did River Journey twice, both times a walk on, before AK was officially open at 9:00.

I had a FoP Fastpass, but also opted to ride it at park closing. Get in line right before closing and your wait time will be significantly less than what is posted.

I planned a last minute trip to WDW over MLK weekend. I rope dropped AK. I'd say a 45 minute wait for FOP at Rope Drop might as well have been 5 minutes. And that's mostly due to the time moving through the queue. You'll never get that kind of wait any other time except maybe right at park close.
