I would recomend Boma. If you like trying new flavors and new foods then this is the place. It is an african style buffet and provides a large selection on items. It is also one of my favorite meals on property.

Boma is great. But, many of the foods have seasonings that some may consider exotic (several dishes that were strong on curry, and there were some other spices that we couldn't figure out). My wife and I really enjoyed the flavors and variety, but our sons (early teens) weren't all that hot on it. They went for the more traditional american foods, which the buffet also serves.

I don't know what they're doing now, but last spring break when we were there, they had young people from Africa as greeters, and every now and then they would sing a native song. Talk about setting the mood for exotic!

I agree that Boma is very good, particularly for a breakfast buffet. We also had dinner at Boma, and it was good. But I thought that Jiko was even better for dinner. One of the nicest sit down restaurants in the entire park. Excellent wine list (all South African wines), and a great dinner selection. Slightly different flavors (the entrees are South African), but nothing too exotic. Excellent desserts.

Boma's is GREAT! We took my inlaws there in January. They traditionally only like bland food, but could not stop raving about it! My kids (ages 6 and 8) like it too! There is something there for everyone.

Warning to anyone who is caffeine sensitive, the zebra domes are packed with it. I had two for dessert and had a lot of trouble sleeping that night even after a long day in the parks. It was worth it though.

I also would agree that both restaurants are fabulous. We ate at Boma for breakfast (twice) and dinner and loved both meals.

Personally, I liked Jiko even better than Boma. We also ate there twice. We cancelled out reservation at The Flying Fish to eat at Jiko a second time. If you like wine they do have a great selection of South African wines (which I had never tried before). The food was also excellent. Check out the menu first to make sure it looks to be to your liking but if it does then definately give it a try. I should also note that the service at Jiko was top-notch (not that Boma had bad service). They really made us feel special both times we dined there.

I was very nervous about going to Boma the first time, because I'm not one to try new foods... But one of the things that I like is since it's a Buffet... you can take a small sample of everything, try it all out, and then go back for more of what you like. (Which, in my case, was pretty much everything)

I've now been there twice for dinner, and once for breakfast.

I was very surprised at how delicious the food was... and, even better... the fresh fruit was the freshest and most flavorful fruit I've ever had. The desserts would have been so much better had I saved room... lol

Never had Boma for dinner, but we eat at Boma for breakfast almost every day when we go. The only days we've skipped it is when we had a breakfast included with other morning activities (tours, breakfast character meals, etc).

Jiko is very good. Even a picky eater like myself found plenty to eat at Jiko, and the food and service is top notch.
