It is nice, it reminds me of a shopping mall.

Although security was backed up 2 hours when we were trying to fly home. All the flights were delayed, they let us get in front of all the lines, and we were still 30 minutes late flying out.

All in all, a nice airport.

While most people fly into MCO, I have started using Sanford airport (SFB). I seems this is the primary airport for many UK travellers. I fly a low-cost airline (Allegiant air) and have had no hassles to date.

SFB is almost twice as far from WDW as MCO (with more money for tolls), and the rental car prices are higher, but I really prefer SFB to the security wait times in MCO. [it also helps that I can fly into an airport only 20 minutes from my house. This more than offsets the extra time driving in FL.

As 1000th_Guest mentioned, a lot of us from the UK use Sanford as it's the main airport for the UK charter airlines making it a cheaper airport to fly to. For us there is no difference in car rental prices and it's a more efficient airport when it comes to customs and bag retrieval. Orlando has a dumb system where you wait for your bags, get them, go through customs then have to surrender them again , take a monorail to the main terminal and wait for them all over again.

Orlando is a closer drive, but from landing at the airport to arriving at the hotel it's about the same from either (given the dumb way Orlando deals with customs and baggage)

I have to say I'm a fan of Orlando-Sanford airport as well. We can fly in on Allegiant Air from an airport close to our house and not have to deal with the hassles of MCO or one of the NYC airports. The downside is that there's no Magical Express at SFB.
