Could anybody give me any feedback on comparisons of times taken to get through immigration / security etc in Orlando Int and Sanford?

Only ever flown into OI and as always with Uk entrance it takes a while. Just wondered if either airport is speeder than each other, or is it much of a much ness?

Reason I ask is I have the option of flying into both, but understanding Sanford is more than double the distance away, I wondered if immigration was quicker then it may balance it out?

Or would people generally recommend sticking to Orlando Int?

I've never flown into Sanford, we've always gone into Orlando Int. I hear that the immigration process is quicker at Sanford (it's smaller and there is far less international traffic). However, as you point out, the drive is a lot longer and, as @DisneyJoe correctly says, Disney's Magical Express only operates from Orlando Int.
The immigration process can be lengthy - it all depends on when your flight lands (in relation to other international flights), and, how quickly you get off your flight. Further delays can be caused by your baggage collection. If, for example, three international flights land within minutes of each other and you are one of the last to get off your flight.......then you're in for a long wait (and there's nothing you can do to get round it).
Personally, I'd rather stand in line after a long tiring flight knowing there's only a short drive ahead of me, than have to cope with the traffic along I4 on a longer drive.

I've flown into both and I believe the Sanford immigration was quicker, but the travel time from the airport to the resorts eliminated any advantage for me. Basically, I'd pretty much always fly into Orlando Int unless it's much cheaper or there are no other alternatives.

Thanks Philo I think that's made our minds up, it was a toss up between company we can go to Sanford with will give us a at for the same price as Disney directly will only give us magical express. Think we will just try and rent a car for a few days mid holiday, think I'll ring Disney tomorrow and see if they will knock a bit off the price, you never know! (I do LOL)
