Airplanes and Strollers/Car Seat questions!

So we will b traveling with a 1 month old an this will be the first time in a few years we have flown down. I have never traveled with a baby so young but had a question about it.

I know that you can gate check the strollers. With that said, our littlest one will be in a stroller with car seat attachment. Am I allowed to hate check the car seat attachment with the stroller, or will they make me check that in with my luggage and only be able to take the stroller. We will have 2 strollers with us.

I guess my biggest concern, I that if they make me check the car seat attachment with our luggage, would I have to wait for DME to bring it to our resort or will I be able to go to the baggage claim and retrieve it?

Thanks for any help!

"Hate check?" Looks like a Freudian slip! :D

You'll have to call your airline (or check their written policies) to see what they require for your situation. They may, for example, allow you to gate check only one stroller per child without paying hefty fees for extra baggage. I'm not sure what you mean by "car seat attachment" (perhaps the bucket that you install in the car and snap the car seat into?), but that may be considered a separate piece of "luggage" or even a "personal item" depending on its size.) It just depends on your carrier's guidelines, which may be different depending on whether you're traveling with your baby as a "lap child" or whether you bought a seat for him/her. (e.g., Southwest: http://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/baggage/carryon-bags-pol.html, and JetBlue: http://help.jetblue.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/webisapi.dll?New,Kb=askBlue,case=obj(373795))

As for DME, if you don't want your car seat attachment taken by Disney personnel, just don't put a DME luggage tag on it. Then you'll be able to pick it up at baggage claim yourself.

I hate auto correct! :(

What I mean is my child's infant car seat latches onto the stroller.

Edit: here is a pic. This is not my stroller but we will have one similar!

as @Weather_Lady said each airline is different
we have always been pleased with usair's policies

we take the stroller with the child in car seat part to the gate and they take both pieces and gate (not HATE) check them. we put the car base in a canvas bag and they accept that as luggage, free of charge. when the kids get older we pack whole (and massively large I might add) car seats in big canvas bags and have shipped 3 at a time for no charge. as well as pushing the strollers to the gate and gate checking them for free.
each airline will be different but usair has always been very liberal with us
