After hours vs MVMCP

My husband and father-in-law recently did After Hours at Magic Kingdom and really enjoyed the lack of lines/crowds. I’m wondering how After Hours compares to other hard ticketed events, especially MVMCP. I know the Christmas Party has special entertainment (parades, fireworks, special decorations) and character meets that you don’t have during the After Hours, but how do the crowds and ride waits compare? What do people think are the pros and cons of both options?

Parties and after hours events are totally different experiences. The after hours events are FAAAAAR less crowded because the attendance cap is a fraction of what it is for the parties.

While there is usually no wait time at all for rides at after hours events, the waits at parties will be shorter than on regular days but can still be sizable for some rides. For example, at the Halloween party, I waited 40 minutes for 7DMT which is much better than during normal operating hours, but still considerable. At the after hours event at AK, I went on FoP three time in a row with no wait at all, something unimaginable during any other day or event.

The other main difference is that the parties offer far more experiences. Like you said, they have parades, shows, fireworks and M&Gs and most attractions are open. At after hours events, there is no special entertainment and only certain attractions are open but you can ride them as much as you want.

They are both fun changes of pace from a normal day. If you are all about rides with no waits, the after hours event is for you. If you are about the holiday entertainment and atmosphere, the parties are the way to go.

Depends on what you are looking to get out of each. Are you looking at the uniqueness of event extras or just getting in more ride time? I think MVMCP isnt as exciting or worth as much as MNSSHP. I prefer the after hours park time over MVMCP, but would do MNSSHP over the extra hours. Crowds do tend to get lower as the evening goes on and guests start departing. I think at this time the events tend to be more crowded.
