affordable room for 8?

My family wants to go to WDW with 8 of us, including 2 children. What, if any, is the most affordable resort/room that we can stay together. All in one room or villa.

That is a big group and any room that would fit everyone would be expensive. You would need a two bedroom villa at one of the Home away From Home Resorts.

They have these villas at the Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Wilderness Lodge (about 550-1000 per night plus tax, depending on when you go). They are also available at Saratoga Springs and Old Key West (approx. 480-780 per night plus tax, depending on when you go).

Your best bet would probably be to get two rooms at another resort. If you get them connecting, you will almost feel like you are in the same room. We did that when we went with some friends because the villas were just too expensive.

I would agree with the two connecting rooms as stated above. Problem is, I don't think they can garantee that you get adjoining rooms. Since you have 8 people, I believe that you qualify for a "magical gathering" and if you call disney since you are a magical gathering party they can arrange something special for you.

Good luck!

You might want to check what the Annual Pass rates are. It will probably be well worth getting one annual pass just for the room discounts.

If you are interested in a Villa, I would look around @ DVC sites( http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=29) to get pricing on rented points for a DVC resort (Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, Board Walk). These points are usually rented for around 10 per point. This may be cheaper than paying directly for the rooms. Depending on the resort the points do differ. OKW being the cheapest and Boardwalk the most expensive. The resorts that offer the villas have typically 2 floors and three bedrooms which is nice and would allow you plenty of room. There is also a fully stocked kichen (just add food of course) with a clothes washer and dryer. Then if you wanted to cut it back a little more you could squeeze into a 2 bedroom which can sleep up to 8 and has a kitchen and laundry.

Another thing you can try is a Magical Gatherings. Call Disney and ask them how they can accomidate your family for a Magical Gathering. They might be able to guarranty you 2 rooms next to each other.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Book 2 or 3 value resort rooms and have 1 adult get an Annual Pass as opposed to regualr park admission media. You can save 40% off all the rooms with the 1 AP.

We have 10 people going when we go in September. We are renting a 6 bedroom house with a heated pool and hot tub for 1500 dollars including tax. That is the rout I recommend. Check out vacationhomes.com and vacationrentals.com. They have some good deals there.
