Advice-Staying onsite whole trip??

Hi all

So I am booked to return for 14 nights at a delux resort travelling from overseas. Many people I speak to can't believe I am not venturing out of WDW either to ID, the beaches, other parks, the malls etc.

I have shared that I couldnt be any more exciting at the thought of parking at the airport for my international flight and not having to even think about driving for two full weeks (I commute long drives every day) and the thought of getting off the plane onto DME and being inWDW two full weeks is amazing.

I've been to Florida many times been to a lot of places out with WDW but just love the thought of spending the entire vacation at the resort and disney.

Does anyone else feel the same! I've just no interest this trip to commute to ID then universal and pay park fees etc. It would take the whole day. Equally I would rather chill at the amazing disney water parks that commute to the beaches.

Would love to hear everyone's views. :)

Disney is after all about 50 square miles with unlimited choices to eat and full of activity.

Even when we drive down we usually park our vehicle upon our arrival & it doesn't move until we leave. While Disney transportation isn't always the fastest we love the fact that we don't have to drive for a whole week! We have no interest in venturing off property, at least until our DD6 is a bit older.

We always build in some time to go to the Gulf Side beaches. I just love the ocean and would hate myself if I was that close, but didn't make the drive over to get in the warm salt water. I find nothing better than taking a long early morning walk along the beach while the family is still sleeping in. It's my little piece of heaven. Not to mention a welcomed relief from the chaos of WDW and the entire Disney area...especially after 14 days.

And the inverse is true. I couldn't just do a trip where we are at the Beach and not make the drive to WDW for at least a day. I need them both.

Do what makes you happy. It is your vacation. We go twice a year and always visit other places while there including offsite restaurants, shopping malls, outlets, Uni., SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and more...but that is our choice and no one is making us go off property. We do so because we want to and we know there is much more to do and enjoy.

Agree with everything said. If it makes you happy, do it. We've been to The World over 20 times and haven't ventured to anywhere else since 1985. Are we missing something? Most likely, but no desire to go anywhere else. Never been to Uni as we aren't huge Potter-fans and as far as thrill rides go, we live about 45 minutes from Cedar Point and that place is THE BEST with coasters. We have been to DL a few times and that's about the extent of our desire to venture elsewhere.
I do admit to visiting the KSC once with my son, who's an aerospace engineer, but with no manned program anymore that place has lost it's luster.

We usually go down for 2 weeks ourselves and spend 95% of our time on property. The only times we venture off is to take the odd trip up International Drive to see how much it has changed since we honeymooned on I-Drive in 1992 (and man has it changed A LOT - and not necessarily for the better), and we'll take an afternoon and go to Tampa and the Hard Rock casino (kind of a mini-tradition). But we have a rental car. If we didn't, I would be perfectly happy spending the entire time in the World.

I always say love what you love and never apologize for it.

I could easily spend a month inside the confines of WDW and I am a mere 2.5 hour drive away.
ME TOO!!!! every time we go I want to stay longer and return sooner , but its scaring me with these price increases and full capacity more times will Disney take advantage of us and overprice us so we cant go!!:(:depressed:

They seem to be falling out of popularity. A number of them are also closing as they are having to compete with strip malls that have much lower overhead hence lower rent as well as online retailers.

That's really intersting as its the opposite here. Small shops and local towns and high street shopping had been killed off by the large shopping malls and huge superstores.

Strip malls are a far from small. We have several here in North Florida that have dozens of stores and restaurants in them. The St John's town center is one of the largest and has over 100 stores and restaurants.

The big difference is strip malls lack a large large common area that needs to be maintained, air conditioned, etc. This makes them less expensive to operate.

One of North Florida's older malls, Regency Square, is currently about 70% empty.
