Advice requested for early September: SoCal AP blockout weekend vs weekdays without blockouts?

The title pretty much says it all...

I'm considering a quickie 1- or 2-day trip to DL in early September as I have an opportunity to be in the area then. Seeing MSEP would be a must.
Would you recommend a weekend when the SoCal APs are blocked out and the Flex pass is reservation only, or would weekdays which aren't blockouts be better crowd-wise? And how do weekday hours typically compare to weekend hours (park hours aren't out yet)?

Ticket pricing is throwing me off... after I picked my jaw off the floor after seeing the prices for 1-day tickets I discovered what appears to be an inconsistency: DLR has peak prices for the first week of September, including weekdays, yet that seems to be the cheapest week in the area hotels until pretty much the end of 2019. What am I missing?

The safest bet is a probably post-Labor Day weekend when most APs are blocked.

Usually September is pretty light either way. But, a lot of people expect heavier AP traffic this year due to most people not having seen Star Wars yet.

Hotels will be cheaper because not a lot of out-of-towners take Disneyland trips once school starts, but DLR still anticipates some heavier traffic (probably mostly local) around Labor Day, so they keep pricing high.

That is indeed the week I'm looking at, right after Labor Day or the weekend following it. As far as I can tell only Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are blocked, hence my question regarding a blocked weekend vs. unblocked weekdays.

Blocked weekends. Going when most of the AP's aren't able to is your best bet.

I agree. Go when the most APs are blocked and make sure to be there at park opening each day. The first few hours in the park are amazing.
Thank you. Only the Southern California Select is blocked out on Fri-Sat-Sun, though. The others are not blocked or reservation only in case of the Flex pass. I have no idea what the ratio of Southern CA vs. higher passes is. Would that still be enough to keep out the crowds on Saturday?
