Advice on beach vacation after WDW:Vero beach?

Hey guys! I hope I posted this in the right thread! I'm very close to convincing DH on going back to WDW in June 2019.:) The trip would include a week at WDW and a couple of days at the beach, but I need advice on that part. I would like a beach area on the East coast of Florida, not more than 2 hours away from WDW, very clean and family oriented (we have a 6 years son).

I was looking at Disney's Vero beach resort, but it's expensive in June, I'm wondering if I'd better pick something less expensive and stay longer? Have you ever tried this resort? How was it? I was also thinking about Cocoa beach, close to Kennedy Space center, which would be a cool visit...

Thank you!:)

We stayed in Orlando near Disney the night before heading to Port Canaveral for a cruise. Although we didn't actually go to the beach, it was only an hour drive from WDW to Cocoa Beach (hour and a half if you avoid the toll roads).

We have been to Vero many times and I would highly recommend it. Especially if your concerns are clean and family oriented. The resort is immaculate and there are activities pool side and that the resort puts on all day long that your child could participate in. You basically are on a private beach, which is never over crowded, and have the luxury of an amazing pool, water slide, and mini golf course. I've also been to Cocoa Beach many times and while fine it is definitely a beach town. It is crowded on certain days and draws a different crowd than Vero would. Would you be safe and have a good time at Cocoa yes, most likely. Do I think you would probably prefer the Vero resort atmosphere, definitely.

Vero Beach resort is very nice. Peaceful and relaxing. The beach is not very busy so it's nice for your little one. Pool is also nice and there are other activities you can sign up for as well. It's a very laid back atmosphere and is "Disney" without being over the top. The resort is very clean and area is safe.

We stayed at Vero Beach. Lovely resort, secluded beach. Kinda surprised at the high rate you mentioned. That's not high season for that part of the East Coast, since it's summer.

I checked the rate calendar for June 2018, and I saw prices a little over 300$US per night. I'm from Montreal, so this means around 390$CAN...Is that similar to the prices you got?

Ohhh... I just looked at David's vacation rental site... If I rented DVC points, I could get 5 nights at Vero Beach for 1232$US (246/night)... That would be better!

Disney's Vero Beach is our favorite resort away from the parks. Great beach, quiet and not overcrowded. Lots of activities, great amenities, good food and Dole whips. We are actually heading there this weekend.

I'm DVC, so not sure what the cash price would be. But typically, rates are lower in the summer. Vero Beach and south are coastal spots in Florida where visitors from up North flock to in the winter months (November to March). We refer to them as "snow birds". Rates during those months are higher, at both hotels and restaurants. Because we Floridians make you tourists pay our taxes, so we don't have many. 😁
