Advice Needed for June 2021 Trip

Hello. Today, my brother told me that his family would like to visit the parks this June. Unfortunately (for them), I had already rented points at Copper Creek last weekend during the time they want to visit. There is a total of 6 in their party (2 adults and 4 kids--ages 13, 11, 9, and 7). The first time they visited was in July 2019 and they stayed at POR with us taking one of their kids in our room. Today, they booked two rooms at Pop Century, which I have never stayed at. I looking for suggestions regarding resort room location requests and was wondering if a microwave is in the room or not.

They also want to go to some restaurants that I have never been to before: Teppan Edo, Mama Melrose's, and the Be Our Guest dinner. Good choices? I already cautioned them about the price of BoG, but my brother really wants to go (his wife is telling me to tell him that it is booked solid). Any recommendations for entrees at any of these restaurants? They do not have any food allergies.

Thank you.

We have always booked two rooms because we have 8 children except for the times we chose to stay in a 2 bedroom plus suite. we have never had to do anything special to get adjoining rooms with the interior door so we could open it and be connected together. Disney knew by our reservation we were traveling together and would want that.
Never stayed at Pop as we need rooms that can accommodate 5 per room. No microwave will be in room however.
A lot of people enjoy the steak at Mama melrose. Teppan is basically all the same food and you just choose what protein you want in your portion. I haven’t done dinner at Bog since it’s change to signature not interested in it. With our children we prefer somewhere like liberty tree. Our kids are big eaters and they can fill up at liberty for cheaper than Bog. If you time it out right you can eat a snack for breakfast. Late lunch and everyone is too full for a big dinner. They just need a snack later or can split a burger or something between a couple of them so it ends up being a good value.

We just left Pop and that's our favorite resort. I would request a preferred pool room to be in between the main hall and the skyliner. Plus you are right next to the pool. There are no microwaves in the room, however there is one at the main hall food court.

We have eaten at Mama Melrose and BoG. Both have really good food in my opinion.

Unfortunately, only standard view is available for their stay. They actually went for the ticket deal over the room deal since it ended up being slightly cheaper. They are driving, so they will not be taking Disney transportation much (my SIL is afraid of heights so the skyliner is a no-go for her).

You can request a microwave for your room, staff will bring it to the room if any are available. They should ask for the microwave when they arrive at the resort that way they will have it for their entire stay.
Our family eats at Mama Melrose every year. My kids are picky eaters and they always eat well there.

Had no idea you can request a microwave. Thanks for that info

We've been to Pop twice the past two years:
  • We are mostly all day park people - spending the money for a mod/lux didn't make fiscal sense to us because we would never be there.
  • No microwave in Pop rooms.
  • Get a preferred room. We didn't do a preferred room the first time and because we are all day park people, that last walk from the bus to our room, which was the last building to the far (I believe east) of the 50's section was just so painful. If you are in the last building to the far west in the 90s section, that might sting. Wife and I heard quite a few people during our last trip saying they will never get a regular room again. Also being closer to Classic Hall and the Skyliner is nice.
  • The Pop rooms are actually pretty nice - I enjoyed the beds/pillows and I didn't care about the pool so much. I just cared it was present and heated.
In regard to your restaurants, we did BoG. My biggest gripe with a lot of Disney's experience dinners is that the portions are so small and I never walked away full. However, my wife wanted to do BoG and I will say the atmosphere was awesome. I enjoyed the theme/building the dinner was in and got great pictures. Food was delicious, just not enough, especially for the price.
