Disney sure took a drop today. It closed at $15.31 according to the AP Wire. But the thought is... man, it sure is tempting to buy!!

So, can you tell me what the advantage is of becoming a Disney Shareholder?? Surely there are thousands - but are there special meetings, votes, etc?? Do you get a say in any of the corporate to do's??

How much are you wanting to buy?

As a common stockholder, you'll get to vote in some decisions on the company. I don't know what the policy is on attending annual conferences and such.

If you're wanting input in decisions the company makes, you're going to have to make quite a purchase in order to have any real input. At least 10,000 shares, probally 25,000 would be my guess.

As a long time stockholder the perks are not what they used to be. Untill Eisner and company took over there were more sneek peaks at what was in the planning stages included in the stockholders report each January that I salivated at as a kid. There were some special perks to see the Florida project as it progressed. But that is no more. As far as meetings the only one that any stockholders can attened is the yearly stockholders meeting. Untill the early 90s there were usually switched between LA and WDW. Then the protesting of some of eisners dicisions caised big headaches for him they have been holding them in less than ideal locations and making it less attractive for someone to want to attened and make a mini vacation of them. i happened to attened the one in my home town of chicago atr navy pier about five years ago and I got there at 8:00 for a 10:00 meeting start and was ushered to an ajacent meeting room away from the main hall durring the meeting since I was told people were linning up since 5 AM to get a good seat. To make a long atory short I was allowed to go to the main hall for the Q and A and waited an hour for my turn and there were many people pehind me in my line and since the few people that spoke before me really got down on Eisner for some of the Decisions he was making he ubruptly called a vote to end the meeting and was quickly seconded and dozens of us were left hanging and I was not a happy camper to say the least. so it would be up to you If you were looking for perks to being stockholder there really aren't any anymore like there used to be when the Disney family was at the helm, It's all corporate now.

Make your money work for you!

There are no advantages to owning any large amount of any stock. Equity holdings in the stock market right now are very foolish. I dumped my entire stock holdings during the first quarter of 2000. However, just for fun I still have one share of Disney and a few others. You get the annual financial report and you get to vote on things that have all ready been decided by the weak board of directors. In short buy government securities if you want to make money. Disney stock will make you poor.
