As far as I know, the selection process is totally random. They ask people as they're arriving for the show. The last few times I've seen the show, all of the VIPs have actually been kids or kids with a parent(s). Believe me, if being a travel agent was part of the selection process, I would know. LOL But I've never been a VIP.
It's also possible that they could've requested it with Guest Services, I suppose. But I don't know if they take those requests or not.
