ADRs In One Week-Am I nuts?

Hi All,

I just realized that I am able to make my ADRs one week from today :D. My mom and I are going to the World October 28 - November 2, staying at OKW and are not using a dining plan.

My ADR plan is:

Monday-Coral Reef dinner
Tuesday-50's Prime Time late lunch
Wednesday-House of Blues dinner
Thursday-No ADR
Friday-Liberty Tree lunch

We like to have one sit down meal per day. Neither of us are particularly picky eaters, and we're not fancy "foodie" type people either.

My question is am I nuts to not have an ADR for Thursday knowing that we are going to want a sit down meal? I'd like to have one day where we have nothing scheduled and can do what we want, when we want.

I agree with @luv you are definately not nuts. You have so many options though. You can always decide where you want to eat during your stay, and then, ask the Concierge desk to check availability for wherever you choose. You have all the parks pretty much covered, with the exception of AK. Also, depending on what your plans are for Thursday, you can always dine at one of the monorail resorts :)

The main point of no ADR on that day is so that we can have a day with nothing planned. Not to say that we will sit around the resort all day, but I want one day where we can get up and figure out what we want to do on the fly! I do like the idea of going to one of the resorts for our meal that day.

Thats just it, its a free day and instead of an hassle, just go to Concierge and see what's available :)

One other thing we have going for us it that F&W will be going, I'm quite sure we could make a meal out of all the different samples!
We do this EVERY year. Perhaps, an early lunch or breakfast ADR for Thursday would be a good idea, then do *dinner* around World Showcase, using your snack credits. We save our snack credits up, and one night, go crazy in WS. In my opinion, thats a terrific Thursday, plus the crowds will be alot less than on the weekends

That is a good idea, we could do a late breakfast and then do F&W for dinner. We're not doing a DP though, so we won't have snack credits, but it's still a feasible idea.

No DP is another reason I'm not too stressed about not making and ADR that day, I won't have to worry about leaving a TS credit unused!

its still good. We have a Disney Visa, and usually save our rewards dollars for a girl card at Epcot, and eat, eat, eat our way to oblivion! To do a sit down meal then do the WS during food and wine isn't something we can do, so we usually do a sit down breakfast, ride the water mice (I think they're called searayers now) then head to Epcot. Check out the Food and Wine offerings here on site prior to your visit, decide what you want to sample then go from there :)

Well if you're nuts then that makes me nuts too because I'm doing the same thing except on a Wednesday. We're going to AK that day and I just don't know how long we'll stay and there really aren't any restaurants at AK that we particularly like or want to try. I'm assuming at this point that we'll either go back to the hotel and eat a QS dinner and swim or we'll go to DTD and eat there. Who knows - maybe we'll go put-putting and grab something?

This trip I've left a lot of open space to do whatever we want. We leave on Saturday at 1pm and I have nothing planned for that day and I basically have nothing planned for the Friday before. We have dinner reservations at Le Cellier, but otherwise the entire day is open. Back when I was in college I used to be such a free spirit, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of person and had such a good time with that mentality. But, after I went to law school and had kids, my mindset went totally the other direction and now I'm completely OCD and have a hard time letting things remain "unplanned." So, we'll see if I revert back to my old-self this trip or if the freedom will drive me crazy???

Not at all we usually leave one or two days to see how we feel and what we want. We never gave a problem getting an ADR. Don't expect BOG, but you will be surprised what you can get into when already there! Have a great trip

I'll agree with everyone else. You are not crazy, just have realistic expectations about what you hope to get on your non-ADR day. Definitely don't expect Be Our Guest.
