ADR's - Can someone please explain?

hi everyone,

I am trying to book some ADR's for our disneymoon in November and whilst I have managed to get some reservations I have struggled somewhat. We only book out disneymoon 106 days before arrival and now we are 87 days until arrival. However when I randomly checked availability across all restaurants for today there were loads of spaces n popular venues, unlike in November.
I wouldn't have thought this would be the case as August is a pretty busy time.

Can anyone explain? Is it likely more reservations may appear before my trip?

Yes. Now that they charge $10 if you don't show up, a lot of people cancel last minute. If you can't get what you want now, I almost guarantee you'll be able to get it in the days leading up to your trip (or during your trip). I would say it's not worth it to check for reservations every single day, but I would recommend checking around fastpass booking time (people might rearrange their plans, I've seen a few BoG ADRs pop up around this time) and right before/during your trip. A lot of people get frustrated over BoG reservations, but they're really easy to get with a little patience and flexibility.

Example - my plans have changed a lot. I booked a BoG breakfast for one day of my trip, but it turns out we aren't going to MK that day. I found an ADR for another day, but I don't want to give up the original one, since our plans might change again (I have a few other ones like that too). So once we 100% solidify our plans in the days leading up to the trip, I'll dump all my extras.

People are definitely booking them and then making changes as plans change. It's a side effect of making people plan 180 days out where they want to eat.

about 45 days out is another good time to check as that's when the final payment for packages is due and some people decide to just cancel everything, costs or change of plans

I was told to get a hard to get ADR like to Cindrellas royal table is to get online right at 6 am and then call right at 7 am. That is the only time I have been able to get into the most coveted ADRs. Also I have been told to check the Sunday or Monday right before you leave as well.

Thanks for the info guys. I will wait til we are a little closer to our trip to look for cancelations. Also I am trying to secure a hard to get ADR for the night before we leave as our last meal as part of our disneymoon and I was starting to give up hope but now I think I could still have a chance

You absolutely have a chance. I've had lots of luck snagging last minute ADRs the day before or even same-day. It helps greatly if you can be flexible about when you dine - for example, Be Our Guest often has a spot open between 4 and 5. It's late for lunch and early for dinner but if you pair it with a brunch type meal earlier in the day and a late snack somewhere, it works.
