ADRs before booking resort?

Sorry if this question was asked before, but can I make ADRs if I haven't booked my vacation package yet? I know these restaurants fill up fast, and I'm probably not going to be able to book until Jan and we want to go in Mar. I'm worried that there won't be anything available by the time I book my vacation package....:cautious:

Yep! Dining is not connected to having a hotel room.

Having a hotel room booking allows for you to book 180+10 for ADRs, otherwise you don't need or gain any benefit from having one.

About a week ago I booked my ADR's for my trip coming up in April '16. I haven't decided on a hotel yet - I may even go off-site this time (blasphemy!). But the ADR's are all set.

It's hard to pay $125 a night for a basic place like the Pop when I can get a plush room for $70 in the Disney Springs area.

Equally important to note: If you cancel your resort reservation, it will not cancel your dining. You need to cancel those separately or risk fees.

Nothing wrong with offsite. We just spent a week at a place as nice, or nicer than anywhere we have ever stayed onsite (including all the deluxe) and paid much, much less and still had a terrific trip. Ate at a few very good offsite places as well.

Go for it! It's the first thing I do if I have an inkling of the timeframe I want to go. That way, they're locked in. Then, either tinker with the ADRs when your plans are firmed up or just cancel them if the trip doesn't happen. I find myself changing my ADRs regularly before the trip (changing times, cancelling one restaurant in favor of another, cancelling some altogether, or adding new ones). The great thing is that your prior ADR is held until you confirm a new ADR at the same timeframe.
