Is coming up....and they are already posting previews of what to expect. Here is the new "Un-Blur" feature in Photoshop...

Lightroom 5 (Beta) just hit the streets not long ago as well, with the following:

- Advanced Healing Brush allows customers to heal imperfections and remove distracting elements
- Upright tool analyzes an image to automatically level horizons and straighten objects like buildings to correct a keystone effect
- Radial Gradient tool creates off-center or multiple vignette effects
- Smart Previews allow customers to edit images without needing the original raw file
- Video slideshow enables customers to combine still images, video clips and music in a creative HD slideshow
- Upgrades to the Book module enhancing the ability to create, customize and order elegant photo books using a variety of tailored templates

It's getting to the point - between in-camera features and post-processing software, that even complete n00bs can take halfway decent photos. ;)

Eh...yes and no. As awesome as Photoshop and Lightroom are, they can't make a BAD photo into a good one. It CAN make a GOOD photo better..but now its just easier. I am a huge fan of LR5, as its giving me less and less reasons to bring anything into photoshop. It seems the path Adobe is taking is giving LR features one year or so after they are first introduced in Photoshop. I predict this De-Blur to be a big feature in LR6...you'll see :)

Oh, I know... :D

Yeah, LR and Aperture are both getting to the point where Photoshop isn't really necessary. I still prefer old school - managing my library via the filesystem and use Bridge/Photoshop. So far, I've tried to love LR/Aperture but just couldn't do it. This might be the proverbial straw.

I remember last year when they "leaked" the de-blur vids.... Looks very interesting!

As a (very) longtime PhotoShop user...i get exactly what you mean. I shunned LR as a "Photoshop light" for almost 2 full versions..and then finally started giving it more than a glance once version 3 free beta came out. I found out that I had to change my mindset from "Designer" to "Photographer". It became clearer and clearer as I pushed forward about how handy of a tool it is (ESPECIALLY when it comes to managing large libraries!), and now its my "Step 1" for all my photos. LR4 was what convinced me to purchase (Better RAW Processing, much faster, and lots of new tools), and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I chose it over Aperture because I am a Multi platform user..and its nice to switch from system to system using the same suite. Will it REPLACE photoshop in my life? No way. I use PS for many more things than just Photos on my day to day work projects, but for photo retouching (normal things...), most certainly.

Yep, same here! My library is getting far too large to manage the old way. LR4 almost had me convinced... I think LR5 might do it, as I use the healing brush and straightening tools (along with Transform | Distort) quite a bit. The improvements with ACR of course benefit us all, but has been nice with the redone algorithm and lens profiles on the last go around. Being multi-platform (unlike Aperture) is of course especially cool... It doesn't affect me (I'm strictly Mac) but that's big.

Will it replace PS? No, of course not - you're right.
