Adjoining Rooms

My wife and I, along with another couple, are thinking of taking an August trip. From what I've gathered, it appears that renting two adjoining rooms would be more cost-effective than splitting the cost of one large villa. It also affords more privacy.

I have a few questions, though:
1. Do all resorts have adjoining rooms? We're thinking of staying at one of the moderate resorts.
2. What resorts have the best adjoining rooms, if there is such a thing?
3. Finally, if I book the trip completely under my name, would a PIN or bounce-back offer be applied to both of the rooms or just one?

Thank you!

I am presuming that what you want is connecting rooms. Connecting have an interior door between two rooms while all rooms are next to another or adjoining without necessarily an interior door.

Any resort would have connecting rooms and the rooms will be identical to all other rooms in that category in that resort. So choose your resort first and then request connecting rooms. But be aware that connecting is just a request and not a guarantee. They'll say it's guaranteed but many people over the years have confirmed that there is no guarantee.

If you get connecting the pin will apply to both as long as there is availability under that pin in the resort. There are limited number of rooms put aside under any promotion.

1. I believe all of the moderates have connecting rooms. We had connecting rooms with my parents several years ago at Coronado Springs, and it was wonderful. We'd requested it on our reservation but when we arrived to check in, we were assigned to different buildings. We simply asked if they could move us to connecting rooms instead and it was no problem.
It was fun to be able to open the door between our rooms and socialize!

2. Connecting rooms are simply "regular" rooms with the door between them unlocked and opened. They're not separate or distinct from the standard rooms. If you were to get just one room at a moderate, you'll likely see a locked door in there -- that's the door that is opened to "transform" that room and its neighbor into "connecting" rooms. The moderates are all comparably sized and comparably nice (although CBR still has double beds in the rooms and the other mods have all upgraded to queen-size: if someone in your party is large or tall, this will be an important distinction).

3. Not sure about this one.

#2- I've noticed at the value resorts the connecting door is in the space where you would want to put luggage. I think the moderates have a better place for the connecting door as its near the front right by the headboard.
Once we booked a package and then added on a room and we were told it was guaranteed to be connecting this way.

#1 and #2 have been answered and you have been educated on the difference between adjoining and connecting.

#3 You can not do 2 rooms under the same name. Each room must have the names of the people actually staying in them. As far as payment goes, that can all be done by one individual if you so choose. When it comes to PIN codes is will depend on the details of the offer, but most will allow you to book as many as three rooms using the same PIN code.

I can attest to this - my parents get PIN codes ALL THE TIME and we apply the code to both my room (listing me, my husband and our kids) and their room (listing them). We have also requested and received connecting rooms all but 1 stay because the rooms were not available (although we were staying at the deluxe resorts).

You can request connecting (interior door between the 2 rooms) or adjoining, but they can not gaurantee the request. But if you have the CM who is booking link the 2 reservations for the rooms that should help with getting your requests met.
