Adjoining Rooms? How hard are they to get?

I am planning a trip for the end of October 2014 with 4 adults and a 5 year old. (My child's first trip). I need adjoining rooms so that my child can sleep, but I can still enjoy my evening with my husband and parents. Of course (I'm sure you know where this is going), the person at Disney reservations wouldn't guarantee the adjoining room. Has anyone requested adjoining rooms and NOT received them? I can't imagine what will happen if we get there and don't get the adjoining rooms. We're looking at either the Polynesian or the Wilderness Lodge, if that makes a difference. It would absolutely not be worth the money if I have to go to sleep every night at 8 pm so my child will be rested enough to enjoy the parks. Thanks for your help!

Call back Disney reservations and ask again. Repeat this as many times as possible. Different people could have different answers. I hope that helps! :)

They can't guarantee the request but on our last trip we got them. We wanted 4 adjoining rooms but they don't have that, so we got 2 sets of adjoining rooms. We called a couple of times in the weeks leading up to our arrival and we got it.

In 6 trips, they were unable to accommodate connecting rooms with a door in between on one trip - Wilderness Lodge. The rooms there had one in between so we could not walk in between without going into the hallway.

Getting them totay depends on how many people requested them, how full the resort is and how many each resort has. We try our best to work with everyone's requests but I have seen many that we weren't able to fullfill especially when we have a full resort, groups in house, etc. Keep in mind October boasts food and wine, Halloween parties as well as the tower of terror 10-miler, tons of wedding Groups as well as a good group of Convetions. All of those things can definitely affect whether or not you'll get them. The only way to be 100% sure is to book a room that fits you all under one reservation. Since you're looking at WL have you considered looking at the DVC villas?

Sorry to be blunt about it but I've been yelled at by more people than I like to admit because we weren't able to grant the request they asked for. If we don't have it, we can't give it to you and much more goes into that than the average guest knows or can understand unless they work in the business.

Hope that helps!

We usually get them too and have never been turned down. They tend to not guarantee anything ahead of time but you can make adjustments through online check-in and at the front desk. We have 5 kids so I can relate!

Getting "adjoining" rooms which is 2 rooms that are next to each other, but do not have a connecting door is not that hard if that is your only request. It can be difficult if you have also requested particular buildings, floors, etc or if you have different room types (eg one king room and one standard room).

Getting "connecting" rooms which is two rooms that have a connecting door between them is a little more difficult as there are fewer of them.

Yes, please ensure you requested connecting rooms. If you requested adjoining you will only get 2 rooms that are next to eachother without the connecting door.

You also have to take into account that sometimes connecting rooms are impossible based on the type of rooms you have booked.

For example, there are no connecting rooms at Value resorts where both rooms are King rooms. There's also no such thing as connecting Studio units at the DVC resorts.

But if you're looking for just two standard rooms, and you specifically use the term "connecting rooms", then you should have a very good chance of getting it.
