Adding tickets to a reservation

Quick question ---

My husband and I are going to wdw may 2014 for our anniversary and to celebrate me finally graduating college!!! Anyway, last night I booked a room only reservation for AOA little mermaid suit. I was thinking today at work--- I have never done the hotel reservation and park tickets separate. Usually I do a package. I priced out what it would be for 2 adults and park hopper and it would be a good chunk of change if I bought them separately and having to pay for it upfront. Has anyone ever added tickets on to an existing reservation? If so - are you able to add it on to the total amount of the reservation and pay it off in time.... I usually put some money towards my reservation each week....

Thanks in advance for help!!

Congratulations on your pending Graduation and Happy Anniversary in advance!

We always book room only, pay it off and save on the side for our tickets. Packages are so hard to cancel, and we have kids, so we never know what may come up at the last minute. Cancelling a room is much easier on the wallet than cancelling a package. Tickets can be added the minute you check in or you could buy them in advance from a discounter like undercover tourist. Either way it is the same, I think, unless you get some PIN code for a package deal.

I never thought about doing it the way you are, but it is a good idea! I am not sure that you could save much, if any, by purchasing the package. But you could call Disney and price out your trip as a package and then see the difference. I second @smk about checking w/ Undercover tourist for tickets.
