Adding one person to a dining reservation @ CRT?

We have a lunch reservation at Cinderallas Royal Table. I just found out that a relative will be meeting us for the day at MK. I called the reservation line to let them know that we would have one additional person in our party. I was told that they could not accommodate the one additional guest due to fire marshal regulations.

Has anyone ever had a problem showing up with one more person than listed on the reservation? I'm thinking they will accommodate us when we arrive, but it would be terribly embarrassing if our extra guest was denied access.

Any suggestions? I really don't want to give up this reservation.

Adding one person to most reservations at the podium is typically not a big deal, but I have yet to see it work at CRT. Since it is prepaid, I'll wager that they have an almost an exact number of guests they can accommodate on any given day and if they are showing full, it most likely is actually full.

You can try, but have a back up plan.

We added a person to our Dinner at CRT on September 2nd of this year. They had no problems accomodating our request. I am not saying that it is typical - it could have been that it was not a busy time of the year.

Do have a backup plan. Since the person we added was my mother-in-law, I opted to eat somewhere else if they couldn't seat 5 instead of 4. I figured I would be back again at some point since we go every year. I would have more chances to eat there.

Thanks Dinardo. I will give it a try....I'm curious had you tried calling ahead, or did you just add on at the podium?

I'm not even sure I can try....since it is a pre-paid meal, will I forfeit the money if we are forced to eat elsewhere?
Yes.

If your extra guest is not on the reservation there is always the possibility that they will say no regardless of the restaurant. If you can not get the reservation changed or re-booked for another time, there is the possibility that you will have to make the decision of letting him/her eat somewhere else or canceling the reservation and eating the cost. If it were me, I would explain the situation to your relative.

Our travel agent tried but to no avail. We just thought we would press our luck by approaching the podium at the time of our ADR.

If they could squeeze the extra person in, they would. They have already told you that they can't. Believe them.

There is always a wee chance something will change and they'll be able to add a person, but it is very unlikely. I would make a reservation somewhere else if it were me.
