Adding Credit Card to Magic Band

I am using a magic band I all ready have from 2019. Used in on our last trip and it worked just fine. I had the dining plan then so didn't use it for getting food. I have a trip coming up and do not have a dining plan. I can't remember, do I need to go to the front desk to have my CC number added to my band?

When you do your check-in for your resort on the computer, you can assign a CC for your stay if you're staying on Disney property. It's tied to your magic band. You can establish a new pin or keep the one you were assigned on check-in. Have a wonderful trip!

Hi, so nothing is actually on your magic band, it is no different than a hotel key card, it is just in a different shape. The information is on your hotel reservation. So just like how we used to set up charging privileges on your room key, you do the same thing, give your information at the resort.

The magic band is kind of an identifier that is linked to your My Disney Experience which can be a key to access your plans, tickets, etc. at Disney World from my understanding. Nothing is really stored on your band if I'm not mistaken. So, I gather it's more like a conduit.

Yes but you can use your Magic Band as your credit card. My concern was that before you went to the front desk when you checked in and added your CC then. I will be checking in early and bypass the front desk. I just wondered how I would add my CC to the band.

Nothing is on your magicband. It isn't a smartwatch. Your cc is added to your MDE account and that is where your band charges go, to then be paid before check out.

Yep, that is exactly what I said. It is no different than a hotel key card, nothing is actually stored on the card/magic band.

I remember when they first asked me if I wanted to put a CC on my then key card. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that and they told me to think about this. If you lose your CC at the park you have the hassle of cancelling your card and getting a new one. If you lose your key card, now magic band, you simply go to guest services, cancel the card/band and get a new one. You still would have a CC on the new card/band. Also, back then, they put a limit of $500.00 on the key card. If you hit $500.00 you could add another $500.00 but they wanted you to be aware of how much you were spending.

Again, there is nothing stored on the band. The cc info is added to your MDE.

The dollar limits used to be $500 for Values, $1000 for mods and $1500 for deluxes. All that meant was when you hit that threshold on your account, the charges were charged to your payment on file and your balance was returned to 0.

At this point they either understand or they don’t. 🙂 I’m not sure additional explanations will help.

OK people here are being picky on saying that your magic band does not store your CC it goes to your My Disney Experience. WE ALL KNOW THAT. But you use your magic band if you want to charge anything to your MDE correct? It isn't like you can carry your MDE around to charge anything. WE GET IT, GOT IT, HAD IT.

really don't know what you are trying to prove. We all get it. Charges are actually going to your MDE or reservation. You just use your band to get there.

Knew that from the beginning just rying to keep things light and easy.

Well there’s light and easy and then there’s confusing.

Glad to know your question has been answered.

I think everyone has answered your question, but let me try here.
1-open up your MDE account on a computer (easier to use for some people than a phone)
2-go to your account and update the credit card you wish to use on your vacation under the tab payment methods
3-make sure the magic band you will be using is linked (and activated), on line it says you have to do check in or use the front desk, I did neither on our last trip and it charged just fine to my room (too fine!) 🤣
4-shop, present your band (and pin number), enjoy!
And yes, if your band is lost just like a card, go to a guest services CM and have them deactivate your band and give you a card to use.

Where it matters. Guests at non Disney resorts such as the Swan can't use their magic band to charge anything. The magic band facilitates a room charge back to WDW resort room account.

An apple watch is an alternative touch less payment tool
