Adding a day...best way to do it?

So our plan in September was to drive to just outside property, check in at all stars early the next day (even if the room isn't ready) and hit the park all day and head back to the room. Well the more I think about it the more I don't like it. We are doing it that way bc that's the only MK night we will have that's a full night, no MNSSHP to shut down the park early. So I think I'm just gonna add a day. I should mention that it's not 100% certain we (read:my husband) wants to add another day. He thinks we should save the money and get a cheap $75 night hotel. Problem is, is that now we would probably need to get 2 rooms bc there are now 6 of us going. That plus the fees, we may as well stay on property and not worry about having to unload luggage etc at midnight after hitting the parks all day. My question is...should I add it now(we are making payments) and then cancel it before the window closes if we don't want to do it? Or should I wait until I know for sure one way or another? I'm just worried if I wait too long we won't be able to add that day since I know the suites are limited. I much prefer the idea of checking in around 3, going in the pool, eating dinner and getting in bed at a decent time so we can be well rested for the park.
