I've heard several actors over the years make comments referring to the "lack of pay" from Disney, when it comes to offering their voices/talents to animated films.
My question/curiosity is this:
(1) Most of these actors/actresses are very well to do, and as such don't really need the money.
(2) The tendency in most contractural situations these days is that the size of the contract seems to overshadow the actual talent displayed on film/voice, or on the field.
(3) How important is it for these actors/actresses to be highly paid for this type of work. I personally would be honored if the most famous animated film company in the entire world asked me to provide my talents to any of their films.
Don't get me wrong, they should be compensated in some form.
Whether that is a contractural fee, or royalties on film/ticket sales, or from merchandise sales from the film. And I'm sure they are compensated in some form. I just can't stand the fact that millionares want more money, and then want to complain about the fact they aren't paid enough. The job of any company hiring anyone for any position, is to negotiate they lowest price possible. Not the highest. (Take a look at the NHL, MLB, NFL, and NBA for examples of how not to write contracts. ) Tell me those entities haven't suffered for writing outrageous deals to overhyped players not worth money.
