Activities at Resorts (e.g., AKL, Riviera)

Hello! In recent stays it’s been difficult to plan out ahead of time what activities are going on at the resorts. I feel like the websites aren’t helpful and often many of the activities are just posted day of (or the day or two before) on a board in the lobby. Is there any more reliable way to plan these sorts of activities? Our resort day is the day we arrive and kind of want to know what to expect going in. Thank you!

In the days pre-Covid there were activity calendars that were published every month on the Orlando Parks News website.

Since re-opening though those guides haven’t been produced. I think you’d have to wait until you get there, unless you can find either someone who’s been very recently or an unofficial fan site.

A lot of the activities have been suspended since re-opening. Movies under the Stars is still operating, and pool games for the kids. Hopefully some others will restart in the next few months.

Almost all the AKL activities were led by Cultural Representatives who won’t yet be back when the resort re-opens fully next month.

related… some of the resorts used to have “scavenger hunts”. Does anyone know if they are currently going on?
We have done the scavenger hunts at all of the resorts that offered them. Guests went to a certain location (varied by resort) to get the sheet of paper with a list of what to find. Then you returned the completed list for some type of small reward. The only CM interaction was getting and returning the paper and there was no interaction with other guests. As such, I cannot see a reason why they would not have the hunts for covid reasons. But, there may be other reasons for not resuming the hunts. Unfortunately, I do not have a current status on any of the scavenger hunts.

I believe they were discontinued. Probably because they actually do encourage non resort guests to visit, which is something they were trying to discourage and avoid. I hope they’ll be back sooner rather than later though.

They were not discontinued. They were available at WL last month,

Also the activity sheets are back as well. I picked up one at Reunion Station.

At AKL I would go to the community hall and see if they have print outs. Before hand I would find facebook groups to see if someone can get you a digital copy of one before you go.

Glad some are still running. I hoped they hadn’t permanently discontinued them.

I think the Skyliner one was stopped, at least for some time, because it actively sends you to each resort. Not sure if that is back yet.

I didn't think to ask about that one. We checked out the Skyliner but just for a short time.
