Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder..

Yes..It's an old saying and I'am sure I've asked a question like this in the past..Reason for bringing it up is a friend of ours is returning to WDW after a 10 year absence..He phoned me tonight to ask what is new since 2003.?..Where to start..Anyway I'll sleep on this tonight.:hilarious:..Here's my question..Have any of you had a gap of 5 years or more since your last visit, and did you find that indeed absence did make your heart grow fonder, and made the trip & planning more exciting, than say if you go on a yearly visit..Now I'am sure those of you who indeed go every year still plan and get excited about this magical vacation, but I could feel the excitement in my friends voice on the phone..Here's the odd thing..In 2003 they went with their daughter ( 8 ) and son ( 10 ) both now living away,so this trip in November,it's just him and his wife.Yet he sounded to me like a kid who had just won the holiday of a lifetime..Curious what your feelings are on this.? Does absence from WDW make your heart grow fonder.;)

The longest gap has been 4 years, and absence does make the heart grow fonder. But in another way its really good to go back to see the differences that time makes! I would love to go every year, but think it would spoil it for me - I really will have something to look forward to in Oct 2014 as my last trip was Oct 2010! I just love being there.

Had 18 month gap at our June trip and it was awesome. So awesome that we went back for AP's. The fisrt trip back was actually underwelming because we had just been there. We have since learned to take it slow and look for new things/explore the nooks and crannies. I guess what I'm saying is I agree absence does make the heart grow fonder.

OK- setteling in to being a passholder and it will be a whole 7 weeks between trips. We are going in 10 days for MNSSHP and I'm listening to park music on youtube (tomorrowland loop this morning at work) and I keep checking the forums this week. I can't imagine how I used to go years at a time between visits.

I had a 14 year gap and it definitely does make a difference! It was like I was five all over again. It was really emotional for me when I stepped into Magic Kingdom 14 years later. Not because of the castle, sights, or smells but it just brought me back to a simpler time in my life. Needless to say, that is was/is the reason I vowed to return as often as possible which has turned out to be every year since. :)
